Firstly, when we are physically and mentally exhausted every single day, just when are we going to have the time, energy and money to suddenly learn a new skill? Your ‘advice’ might be of use to someone in their early twenties, not in their late fifties.

Secondly, why should someone who has devoted their entire working life to provide a service to their local community have to accept that they should learn a new skill and get a new job, just to appease the greed of the bosses? Some of us would rather stay and fight to protect what we have, and to protect the futures of those coming after us. We’re not looking for more, we just don’t want less.

This is what is wrong about your statement, your solution, that if you don’t like it, leave, is not really an option for tens of thousands of people, and is why I think it is bo****ks.

You raised a fair point about people not being able to have the time in their 50's to get a new skill but as I said to the previous moron. It's a risk you take when you sign up to a company. Did you seriously believe everything would be honky dory until your dying day's? If you did you were talking Bo**ocks to yourself.

& There's plenty of people learning new skills online everyday. If you dedicate a couple of hours a day to something for a month you could get a job. I get it we all fall into the comfort zone of doing what we do but this job isn't the be all & end all. There's easier grafts out there.

Maybe I sped the process of finding a new job up. A month would be quick. Someone could definitely find a job a few after a few month's though. I'm not gonna roll out a list of jobs you could do, websites like lynda.com or udemy provide plenty of training for different roles & I know a few people employed after using their training.

Those career's don't suit everyone. There's plenty of other self employed roles out there or join another company. Working for a company is fine as long as your willing to accept thing's can turn on you. Like they have done for us.

Why confrontational? P&O were obviously not going to sack everyone! I genuinely think this is his agenda. He's been ordered to keep the share price low, hence the reason why the attack before Xmas 2022, so VESA can buy in 2023. If that happens then there will be a firesale. Hopefully, the strikes will overcome this agenda and Thompson will be sacked. But, this is still a possibility. There's no need for slagging someone off for suggesting possible outcomes.
