Re: The Whole reason we are now on strike is one man's folly
I joined RM well over 20 years ago, strange how things were “honky dory” till this year when the parasites you worship started demanding their pound of flesh, so hardly talking “Bo**ocks” to myself.Ppat98 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 23:07To summarize, you thought I was talking Bo**ocks to the over 50's but anyone younger it's ok. I'll take thatpinstripe wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 22:31Well let’s take this snippet
“ The solution is simple. Get a skill, work for yourself & you won't get knocked from pillar to post in the future or play the blame game your whole life & pass that same attitude to your kids.”
Firstly, when we are physically and mentally exhausted every single day, just when are we going to have the time, energy and money to suddenly learn a new skill? Your ‘advice’ might be of use to someone in their early twenties, not in their late fifties.
Secondly, why should someone who has devoted their entire working life to provide a service to their local community have to accept that they should learn a new skill and get a new job, just to appease the greed of the bosses? Some of us would rather stay and fight to protect what we have, and to protect the futures of those coming after us. We’re not looking for more, we just don’t want less.
This is what is wrong about your statement, your solution, that if you don’t like it, leave, is not really an option for tens of thousands of people, and is why I think it is bo****ks.
I hope this clarifies it for you
You raised a fair point about people not being able to have the time in their 50's to get a new skill but as I said to the previous moron. It's a risk you take when you sign up to a company. Did you seriously believe everything would be honky dory until your dying day's? If you did you were talking Bo**ocks to yourself.
& There's plenty of people learning new skills online everyday. If you dedicate a couple of hours a day to something for a month you could get a job. I get it we all fall into the comfort zone of doing what we do but this job isn't the be all & end all. There's easier grafts out there.
You summarised wrong. You are talking rubbish to everyone, regardless of age. What part of being physically and mentally exhausted EVERY DAY means you can dedicate a couple of hours every day and learn a new skill to an extent that this skill will become instantly employable?
Go ahead, give us a list of skills that can be learned in 62 hours that will have prospective employers breaking our doors down.
And why the need for personal insults to other posters? You demand respect but display nothing but arrogance

Re: The Whole reason we are now on strike is one man's folly
I don't worship any RM senior's. I've stated numerous times here my dislike for them but keep repeating bs to make your arguement stronger.
You first said it may be applicable to people with more energy than yourself. Now your saying it doesn't. Again will say anything just to win your arguement.
Maybe I sped the process of finding a new job up. A month would be quick. Someone could definitely find a job a few after a few month's though. I'm not gonna roll out a list of jobs you could do, websites like lynda.com or udemy provide plenty of training for different roles & I know a few people employed after using their training.
Those career's don't suit everyone. There's plenty of other self employed roles out there or join another company. Working for a company is fine as long as your willing to accept thing's can turn on you. Like they have done for us.

Lovely that....if you actually read the post I was suggesting that ST (i.e. Simon Thompson is going to...). This is the future ST wants. I'm not a clown or a troll. If you're a Postie your post was very confrontational. I did read what you wrote (underlined) and ST is obviously NOT going to sack everyone, so your post comes across a shite stirring. Not helpful with a lot of other worried Posties looking for some support .... Re: The Whole reason we are now on strike is one man's folly
Why confrontational? P&O were obviously not going to sack everyone! I genuinely think this is his agenda. He's been ordered to keep the share price low, hence the reason why the attack before Xmas 2022, so VESA can buy in 2023. If that happens then there will be a firesale. Hopefully, the strikes will overcome this agenda and Thompson will be sacked. But, this is still a possibility. There's no need for slagging someone off for suggesting possible outcomes. If I said everything will be ok, will that make you a little less angry?Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 11:01If you're a Postie your post was very confrontational. No, I said it MIGHT BE OF USE to someone in their early 20s.
You know, someone who is just starting their working life. You are attempting to twist what was clearly written to win some imagined argument.
Where I come from we call that “talking bo**ocks”

Yeah you first said no energy & you replied again saying that you are exhausted. So that's the crux of your arguement. You can't speak on behalf of other 50+ year old's. Other's may have more time & energy than you. So try again Mr "No Energy" lol

I won’t bother Mr Always Talking Bollocks, I’ve said my piece. You might not agree, but trolls rarely do. I won’t waste any more time on youPpat98 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2022, 14:10Yeah you first said no energy & you replied again saying that you are exhausted. So that's the crux of your arguement.
