So you need to pass your CPC to drive a van LOL :left:
No, you don’t need to “pass” anything. As someone with grandfather rights (pre’97 licence holder) to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonne, you just need to attend periodic CPC training to get the digicard. No pass or fail about it. Only people doing the full class C or C&E need to do the modules 1 to 4 (which you can indeed fail).

I'd like to see someone squeeze 15 full cages of parcels/packets in a van. :Very Happy
I see it daily with the 16-foot box (approx) Daf box vans that are in and out of my DO :dance
If you think you can get 15 cages on a van then I'll leave it at that.
Am I wrong to refer to them as box vans?

Never heard the term personally but that doesn't mean anything. 7.5 tonne Lorry or 600 are the terms we use.
Anyhow if they are referred to as box vans then :thumbup

Do you hold a full Class C licence or just a C1 on grandfather rights? “Box van” is the right terminology. Indeed, RMG refer to them as MGVs rather than LGVs, don’t they?

Van-What a laugh-Smooth knows it all.
Or in this case very little.
Ultimately referred to a 600 in RM!

Why don’t you enlighten us then? What exactly is/was a “600”? Does it refer to gross weight or payload in old money? Is it an old Leyland/Daf vehicle? What are RM talking about with all this MGV (Medium Goods Vehicle) stuff? I’m all ears!

Oh dear, imagine if anyone browsed this thread foolishly thinking they could glean some information relating to working for DPD

I think it referred to the capacity in cubic feet, iirc you told me a while ago you briefly bought and sold the ldv vans, I think they were classed as a 150 and the larger 3.5 ton twin rear wheeled version was a 400.

Yes, you are right. But I was waiting for our antagonist to enlighten us. Indeed, I was picturing in my mind’s eye an old Leyland Roadrunner complete with low window in the cab — fun things to drive but very bouncy when unladen. The Scanias of the 1980s are my favourite, though I have a soft spot for the old Ford/IvecoCargos and Mercs of the same era.

The thread now reads like the world's worst van and truck wikipedia page.

I only clicked to see if DPD were good to work for :Boo hoo!

You can blame the same moron who is allowed to take every thread off topic with his nonsense. Even adding him to an ignore list is pointless as I still get the pleasure of seeing his drivel when people quote it.

Guys if you’re struggling with this job like I was, get out asap (especially if you’re young!).

Now, I work 4 days a week, earn a little more, in the dry, with managers that actually treat you like a human being.

Seriously, don’t waste your life at RM. Looking back, I wish I’d got out sooner.

Were you a “van” driver or someone who couldn’t hack it in the legal field?
I can’t keep up :hmmmm
