Had this last Saturday from a RM tracked 24 being delivered by Parcelforce.
At the time he said it was inaccessible I was talking to my local Posty whilst doing some gardening!!

I think the point of this thread is parcels are being scanned as inaccessible when the truth is delivery hasn't even been attempted.

The problem is is obviously hides the real picture from Higher Management, The Regulator, The Customer and The Public.

Bog standard practice since the invention of Tracked parcels.
I think partly through a lack of training many people wouldn't even know 'delivery not attempted' was an option.

I've been using delivery not attempted for...well god knows how long. I used to get a telling off, but recently we are told to use this option.

Often I've brought items back as "delivery not attempted" and my phone records conversations which I could later use against managers when they have instead instructed me to prioritise the parcels over the letters. We are not one of the USO trial offices and regardless of the overtime ban we are still legally obliged to deliver letters to every address 6 days a week, whereas the parcels are 5 days a week. That was a condition of RM's privatisation and only at busy times such as Xmas is it logistically necessary to clear the parcels first. I'm sure our manager wouldn't like me to report anything to his bosses.

Royal Mail postal workers 'told by higher-ups to fake deliveries so bosses could keep their bonuses'

Yes it happens in my office. Directly told to do it and I have it in writing.
Something else that bugs me and means I don't get everything delivered is people addressing their parcels with House names or numbers but then entire streets where they've taken them off for some reason.....you then go both ways down the street to look for a number to work from. Round here the houses are also not always in the right order, but there's no option in the PDA menu to say why the address is incomplete etc. Perhaps if we had a comments box for" inaccesible becuase my boss said so, incorrect address no house number or name on house, inaccesible your gate is locked and you don't have a safe place etc....

I've started taking a sharpie with me and writing on the parcel why it was inaccessible....ie if the property gate is locked and no safe place. If they have a small post box I put it on the delivery card

Happened to me a couple of times last year. Customer services, and the office, denied it even though the tracking history had the office scan it as ready to go out on delivery then 10 minutes later scanned it as attempted delivery and no access. I was in the house on a day off so damn well knew they were lying.
