Any mail from a previous day will be put to one side and sorted after all mail from the current day has been processed. If there's not enough time then any we couldn't process for that day and for previous days gets rolled over to the next day. Mail can only fail once so newer mail will always get priorityted_e_bear wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023, 19:56Wow the service gets worse I thought mail only got delayed when it reached the delivery offices.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023, 19:45At one time they'd have been rolled over to early shift to do. If you don't have the resources available to deliver everything what do you do?
I bet they delivered Special Delivery letters.

Admittedly, there are often gaps in our frames when there is only one days worth of mail, but our duties are at least a third bigger than what they were 4 years ago. There are no gaps when it comes to the D2Ds and I find it easier to put them all in at the beginning of the week and just take where I'm going. The biggest change I've seen is the increase in the number of packets. Years ago the bulk of our workload was letters and it was manageable but small vans and big parcels really don't go well unfortunately.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I’m quite happy with £14.60 per hour, £18.25 overtime per hour, thanks. Equates to the best part of £40,000 a year (working one rest day). I agree, I do deserve it!Enjoy your shitey, near minimum wage, new contract, job in RM Delivery Smoothbackground. Looks like you deserve it!![]()
But let’s talk about you. How is your new job going? Given my “shitey” new contract pays me a decent sum, I presume you’re earning more than me, right? What sort of pension does it have? Must be very good!
Why then do you remain preoccupied, obsessed even, with your former job as a postlady? Why do you spend most of your free time pointlessly posting on a forum dedicated to a job that you are no longer capable of doing and have no current involvement with? Are you sorely regretting your decision to leave for greener grass that turned out not to be so?! Do you realise the only way back in to Royal Mail for you, my old china, is on one of these new “shitey” contracts? Problem is, I’m not sure you deserve it!

On nights outside of Xmas pressure, you can get away with just having a couple of people on manual letters for most of the night, often the same for flats.postslippete wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023, 20:16cornstar18 wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023, 12:066 hours it's taking us. When Tracked first came in as a product, on Monday nights for many, many months you'd have just 2-3 yorks. The outward was normally about a dozen yorks on a busy day. Now look at what volumes of Tracked come through these days, a massive increase.
There was iirc in the latest agreement a mention of PF being merged back into RM, if that ever does happen then there'll be a big increase in the number of large and heavy items going through the system

You must be on nights, do you just throw the rounds off and rack up the DPR’s then go home and never go out on a walk? Or work the CSS in an MPU?Smoothbackground wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023, 20:56I’m quite happy with £14.60 per hour, £18.25 overtime per hour, thanks. The starting rate outside of London is £12.24 an hour I just had a look at Tesco delivery and they are paying £12.60 an hour and that job would be far less stressful than working for Royal Mail.
Royal Mail don’t even have the good working hours to attract staff either. Least with Tesco you will also get 10% off your weekly shop to.

£14.60 is my hourly rate, with overtime paid at £18.25 per hour (x1.25). Nothing delusional about it — the money has been going into the bank at that rate and I have payslips to boot. It equates to circa £39,248 per annum assuming one rest day each week worked. What is delusional?

Never really understand why these fishermen come on here baiting us, unless the company pay them too.
But maybe i am wrong and they are just sad people who now work at RM and love to troll.
Either way i think ignoring them is probably the way to go.

Re: no letters delivered
£14.58/£18.23 is the London rate, elsewhere it's £12.29/£15.36
And don't forget the higher rate only kicks in after 40 hours.
Don't know why this character keeps quoting those figures as it's obviously not the rate of pay for most of the country.
Oh yeah also quick spot of maths
£14.58 x 40 = £583.20 x 52 = £30.326 so to earn 40k on the new contract you'd have to do nearly 10k of overtime so a bit more than just one rest day a week.

Re: no letters delivered
Saturday you say?
I've not delivered a letter for two weeks, straight out with parcelles while my partner chucks the walk in, come back around half 9 - 10 have a break, specials tracked, collections & boxes while my partner loads up with what he thinks he can deliver usually around 4 loops which I feed him when he's ready, exercise last letter & everything comes back, everyone's happy
eat sleep repeat

Re: no letters delivered
The figures I quote are from my payslips so definitely not conjecture. They aren’t solely London rates, as I don’t work in London, and I suspect it is the rate paid in major cities - London, Bristol, Manchester, etc. Including 38 hours of OT, my gross salary for November was £3,245.44.
I do a combination of walks, lapsing, and dedicated parcel routes — I am a “postwoman with driving”.
i’m not a troll. And I’m not an RM manager!
With a couple of exceptions, the responses from the “old guard” above are full of vitriol. I commended a fellow postie on their commitment to clearing work and wished them an influx of Xmas boxes from grateful customers, and in response I had an abusive post from someone who no longer even works for RM (MWalker) telling me I deserve my “shitey” contract. It seems that anybody who remains remotely optimistic about RM and posts about it is immediately shot down in flames by a select few on this site.
Does the forum admin moderate posts and threads? Are relative newcomers to RM not welcome on this forum? Is this site just for longstanding, embittered employees? If so, I suspect its days are numbered. I hope not, though. I implore forum admin to set some parameters so this can be a positive and respectful space for members to exchange contrary viewpoints and opinion — without insults and slights. I would also suggest that sections of the site which relate to current goings-on, eg the Blue Shirts section, should be restricted to current employees, not ex employees.
As for me, I am really enjoying myself at RM - and on this site. I haven’t had so much fun in years. I treat everybody with respect, friendliness and kindness until they fail to reciprocate, at which point I give them a taste of their own medicine, and this approach in life has served me well - something about “do unto others” or suchlike…

Re: no letters delivered
What you are or not really doesn't matter to us, you talk like if we would all just put a bit of effort in we could all be like you and earn £40k. Some of us don't want to or need too.
As a relative newcomer you have no idea what us old guard have done over the years for this company and being patronised by newbies just puts our backs up.
I have heard somebody else on this forum with similar views to yourself, and very similar complaints about this forum as yourself.
I am not suggesting you are one and the same person...... but perhaps you should message each other and exchange views, maybe start your own forum .
Just a thought.
