No letters in our office either,wonder if OFCOM have the balls to fine them again because they are literally laughing in the face of British law at the moment.
Let's be honest taking just a day off the USO would save the company millions and that's why they are obviously pursuing it. They will then announce profits and that's when the rot will really start because then they will look towards a three day USO as Ricky Macaulay suggested.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If you don't have the resources available to deliver everything what do you do?
I bet they delivered Special Delivery letters.
IM sorry but people have paid to have their 1st class letters delivered in a time specified too buy a regulator which is law by the way ,all items paid for should be treated the same or this means they are breaking the law ,now if its said like you do they haven't enough resources then on alternative days all letters should go out and not parcels,royal mail are in breach of the law everyday and should be fined accordingly until as of such time the company stops paying shareholders millions of pounds out of a company which is failing to work within the law.These companies should be brought to book and made an example of ,the water companies too ,the trouble we have is they are all the mates of the Tories.
Packets and Tracked have had priority in MCs for many years. If the packets or Tracked sections are in the s**t, flats and manual letters will get sacrificed to free up enough staff to clear the packets and Tracked
But do they get rolled over to the next day or the day after that ?
6 hours it's taking us. Can only comment on that. The same no. Of houses may have taken 8 hours 4 years ago... but the job has changed.. Big gaps . If it's allowed to get to 3 days mail it's comparable with the old job
Been busy with parcels at our office but the managers don’t help themselves. They were sending 2 people out in a van with parcels whilst the mail failed, we had extra hire vans doing nothing in the yard too.
No one is surprised, firmly believe that this mob cannot do both letters and parcels. Thats why you get 3 letters, then none, then another 3, prioritising yes but simply coz RM aren't good enough anymore. Could they send letters to a letters only hub or create letters - only mail centres ?
Pretty much just one loop of letters went out yesterday on my duty after I went from a van share to a solo duty at the eleventh hour. We at our office have been absolutely inundated with parcels. And I know parcels will tend to be prioritised when push comes to shove but to me it points to an appalling staff shortage issue - in years before the situation would not be as bad as it is now.
To be fair to my lino - with three on sick through injury plus the general shortage of trained staff in the post-Thompson era - I know his hands are tied and he'll just ask us to do what we can, as opposed to another manager in another postcode area in our office who will bully and blackmail his staff into working hours past their finish point unpaid... Been there done that and will never go back there!
It's doable, we've been clearing with a bit of can do and going over by about half hour. Ya know like we used to do at this time of year. Or we can kick off and be miserable that a private company wants us to work the minutes we get paid. And yes that's with a full massive e-van. There is no mail! Crack on with our new parcel job!
You’re not a manager in waiting are you ? Maybe you should look at the USO terms & conditions or even watch Mr Thomson stating that parcels are not given priority over letters
I just take pride in clearing my duty, delivering to my customers, especially at Christmas. And getting paid for doing it. Pretty sure that used to be how the majority were. The majority now more interesting in fighting to revive the good old days. Its gone, sad yes, but suck it up

I’m embarrassed to work for this company now.
Friday I saw two offices with 85% full frames.
That’s Xmas cards, Hospital appointments, bank statements & cash cards & none of them delivered.
On top of that you had customers queueing round the office only to be told “we cannot give you your parcel, it’s amongst 1000s of others”
Your proud of that?
That wouldn't scratch the surface in many offices. Doubt your attitude would hold if you were expected to stay out until 7:30 on a notorious housing estate.
Having 'pride in my work' sounds like a nice way of convincing yourself you're not being walked over by people who couldn't care if you never came back from delivery.

Wow the service gets worse I thought mail only got delayed when it reached the delivery offices.
