So basically it’s a thank you from the CWU for giving up your terms and conditions so they can still get paid to drink tea and eat biscuits and work out how to vaguely word it so it sounds like they’re doing something to earn the money we pay them
No matter what they do they will be criticised why not wait an see the offical announcement.
I like to have a warm up before I unleash my full criticism of how the CWU have helped cause the issues I face on a daily basis
And how now they’re championing a 5 day uso that, after speaking with my manager, means I will either have to work on parcels from 13.30- 18.30 which I can’t do so they’re actively championing something that’ll cost me my job
So I’m slightly disappointed with our Union but do feel a bit better after having a little vent on here

RM won't want any of us on deliveries. They'll want newbies on the inferior contracts and casuals
That is their end game no doubt about that if you make letters 5 days then you can fill the weekends with a workforce on inferior terms.
They are unable to keep new staff on the inferior contracts.
Most are choosing to remain on Agency books.
Those that are employed do not hang around for long.
So if you think RM’s “great plan” is working you would be wrong.
The CWU are not entirely right either, but are probably waiting for the s**t show that will occur some time in the future.
Profit is king, even with the failure of the USO the shareholders & board will recieve their bonuses/dividends.
I don’t think they have a real plan if they did they would utilise the very experienced workforce to provide a good and profitable service.
It seems the people at the top have made some awful financial decisions like building super hubs they didn’t need and very expensive electric vans.

things are changing so either tough it out or leave.can guarantee you 100% ile not be on delivery anytime.

I’m not sure who is the head of recruitment but lowering pay and the terms and conditions for new starters when you already have a recruitment problem is a very stupid move.

In our DO newbies are being asked to start on contracts that are wednesday-sunday, so far no takers so they're throwing money at agency still to replace the many, many drivers they allowed to leave (seriously, if you've got- for example -100 duties where one half is done by someone who doesn't drive, why would you let 15 of your driver's go without trying to replace them?! The few "new" people we have are all stuck on afternoon LAT routes which doesn't help, mainly taking the tracked for the duties that have to share reserve drivers)
