Walks absorbed under recent revisions, what happens to duty holders?

Managers allocating walks to posties on a daily basis? Absolutely no chance. Our gaffer struggles with the staffing now & that’s with the majority of duties covered by the holder. It’s more aggro than it’s worth for RM management

Seems like a very wasteful way to do a revision. Just chopping out a percentage of walks is going to mean vans driving out their way to different areas for their ‘lapsing’. Why not reroute the whole office so all walks are close together? Also how are the hct duty’s supposed to get to their extra bit? Dead walking with more time wasted.
Obviously none of this is achievable anyway the walks are already too big in our office unless you come in early and run round like a nutcase which sadly a decent percentage still do.

Same at our office. Some driving miles out of their way to do the "carve-up". Pushed through without any thought, because they can. Just means I`ll come in at my designated time, take a full break and score some extra docket.

All parcel duties gone at ours with oversized parcels being put onto almost every duty. Some of the drivers were given a pick others made reserves but not done on seniority. Need to have a proper revision and resign really because some walks are still doable and others will be ludicrous. Can still see the favourites cutting deals to finish early/ ghost.

I think part of their cunning plan is to get rid of the notion of ‘seniority’ so that each drone is the same as the other and they can send us wherever they want and we can’t squeak back.

I've been on 35 years. I chose to become a floater 7 years ago. It's great doing a different duty everyday, who wants to be stuck on the same thing everyday? Has far as i'm concerned i'm there to work.

Take it you are a floater as in covering 5 walks per week days off etc.Think most are worried they are going to be more like reserve's.

If they start giving me a hard a time over it/anything, then it's straight on the phone to docs & getting signed off, minus the first number of sick days with no pay!

Not seen anything from Royal Mail to say they have ditched their parcel hub plan so I’m still assuming they will be coming off the walks over the next year or so. I know a few on here have posted rumours of Royal Mail abandoning the parcel hub strategy but that would seem really odd since they spent the last year banging on about how they desperately need it for the business to grow etc etc.
But honestly who knows, what I can guarantee is that whatever the plan is we will be the last to be informed.
