I wonder if the OP is in the NE region where RM are looking at getting rid of about 900 walks across the region

Re: Walks absorbed under recent revisions, what happens to duty holders?
Well 7 walks going in my office need to be absored in 4 weeks. I have seen a list of the walks and most staff arent happy some walks seems better off/not much has changed and some walks have got like extra 90 minutes on.
My walk is worst in the office before hand and other staff have had it easy compared to me. like getting back hour or 2 before i did (pre clocking in) and doing ghost and getting paid 6 extras extra to do not more than i did. Yes i am a bit salty.
start time and finish time with me. managers problem not mine. I bet the people who come in free and sort their frames will continue to do so.

Re: Walks absorbed under recent revisions, what happens to duty holders?
Been told that no one is getting VR in our office. A lot of disappointed people.
As far as the walks being taken out goes: there are a few walks just in my division which are currently joke walks because a big chunk has gone since flats were demolished or an industrial estate has replaced several walking loops. Anyway, these walks should really either be merged to make a proper walk or be taken out. But they’re not even candidates. There’s no logic in the decision making about which walks to remove.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

Probably means people who start working for free before they get paid usually by putting in the sequenced mail, just like every office we've got a few folk like that, the worst offender even loads oversized into his van that the early parcel sorters on o/t have sorted.Barnacle wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 14:44What do you mean ‘people who come in free and sort their frames’?glass joe wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 14:28Well 7 walks going in my office need to be absored in 4 weeks. All parcel duties gone at ours with oversized parcels being put onto almost every duty. Some of the drivers were given a pick others made reserves but not done on seniority. Need to have a proper revision and resign really because some walks are still doable and others will be ludicrous. Can still see the favourites cutting deals to finish early/ ghost.

I think part of their cunning plan is to get rid of the notion of ‘seniority’ so that each drone is the same as the other and they can send us wherever they want and we can’t squeak back.kazardaimenu wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 18:40All parcel duties gone at ours with oversized parcels being put onto almost every duty. I most certainly will be!
Moving senior people around onto unknown rounds, etc, is neither efficient or effective, so the magic 196 efficiency target will out of the window!
If they start giving me a hard a time over it/anything, then it's straight on the phone to docs & getting signed off, minus the first number of sick days with no pay!

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Based on some recent posts, you won't have a duty/walk, none of us will. What duty/walk you're on on a given day will simply beparforthewalk wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 19:48Ermm, hope that don't expect me not to be squeaking backBarnacle wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 18:52I think part of their cunning plan is to get rid of the notion of ‘seniority’ so that each drone is the same as the other and they can send us wherever they want and we can’t squeak back.kazardaimenu wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 18:40All parcel duties gone at ours with oversized parcels being put onto almost every duty. Re: Walks absorbed under recent revisions, what happens to duty holders?
I highly doubt that they’re going to treat the whole office as reserves
Firstly the managers wouldn’t want the headache of moving all of us around they struggle now just covering duty holders days off and holidays
Secondly if they’re shutting the customer service points and want us to deliver first time then they must realise that there’s more chance of that happening if you’re a regular on the round and you know the customer and safe place and which neighbours are likely to be in and which ones you definitely shouldn’t leave parcels with
But then again this is Royal Mail they are pretty skilled at finding the least efficient way of doing anything

Delivery people on the whole will not be moved around daily, it would be too much of a headache for managersSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 23:48Based on some recent posts, you won't have a duty/walk, none of us will. Re: Walks absorbed under recent revisions, what happens to duty holders?
Maybe managers will put the young, stupid and fastest on the longer walks and us old timers on more achieveable walks. (well you know what i mean)
Last week a staff memebr who does the job by the book was off and the person who usually works with him was coming on time and not claiming his usual 1-2 hours over time a day. so maybe managers will put that person on a singleton job in the future.
