Walks absorbed under recent revisions, what happens to duty holders?

About to lose 10% of walks in office to be absorbed. I assume this is being pushed through and there is nothing we can do. Does anyone know what will happen to the duty holders? Will they just become floaters even after holding a duty for 20 years. If a walk was allocated under DDA and that is taken away, what will happen to the duty holder, become a floater?

Is there enough changes to the office to trigger a resign ?

If the person is covered under the equality Act ? Then RM would need to make adjustments for them I think, would,d need to go to OH for assessment.
But to be honest I’m not 100 % on that. Best thing to do is get your area rep involved ASAP

Thanks, just tabletop revision apparently which means no resign.

It's a resign if a third of the walks are changed (duty times, duties enlarged ). Being a tabletop doesn't mean no resign.

If there are any vacant walks maybe you could be offered them as you have been displaced , I can't see any one objecting

That's what I thought, sounds probably all the duties will be affected so not having a repick is a bit of a lazy way out, traditionally desktop would be done by the manager and rep/biggest brown noser so that's usually when nests are feathered if our last desktop revisions are anything to go by.

Huge changes at ours, no resign, been told management/company don't want it - duty holders that are displaced will be offered vacant walks, after that ... Only hope, with RM saying the union can be involved now with revisions is for the union to insist on resigns ...

This shouldn't be happening full stop but if it is. the walks that are taken out should be the last ones that were signed for to cause less complications

Unfortunately, not doing that; we have 2 guys at ours both over 30 years service each who are losing their walks but others with only 2- 5 years service keeping theirs ...

Seems like a very wasteful way to do a revision. Just chopping out a percentage of walks is going to mean vans driving out their way to different areas for their ‘lapsing’. Why not reroute the whole office so all walks are close together? Also how are the hct duty’s supposed to get to their extra bit? Dead walking with more time wasted.
Obviously none of this is achievable anyway the walks are already too big in our office unless you come in early and run round like a nutcase which sadly a decent percentage still do.

Even our managers are predicting an 'epic fail'; as far as I'm aware, they had no input regarding the changes, which haven't been implemented yet, and they haven't been told when ...

Will there even be duties soon in either MCs or DOs? It was mentioned in another thread that RM are looking at having the screws allocating duties/walks each day

Maybe wait to see who gets vr then use them duties to absorb makes more sense surely

This happened at ours 4 years ago the 2 absorbed dutys were vacant so didn't cause fights.
