If you go to SISO on the PDA it brings up "start shift" or "end shift" and clicking one automatically signs you in or out. No need to scan a card at all if you're logged in.

I'm guessing possibly incorrectly that he's doing a loop or two to compensate which in theory is great I'd like that arrangement if I were you, however if he's scanning out on his PDA then still working for half an hour or whatever then maybe not so good these days.

I wonder what will happen if SISO highlights that posties such as these two are finishing, say, 15 mins early every day?

Clocking in and out will be the death of posties next year when they use it against you, either with starting 5-10 minutes after your start time (every office has them) finshing early without taking breaks (when its linked to pay) and getting bigger walks.

Does anyone know if the time you "sign out" assumes you've taken your full break entitlement, according to the way forward agreement if you're entitled to 40min then the agreement states probable pattern is either 40 or 20 + 20, it also states if your attendance has more than one break then one can be taken at the end of the shift, I know this is getting a bit picky but because it's saying you can split 40 into 2 X 20 does that actually count bearing in mind you are permitted to take the 40 in one go as opposed to longer attendances where the breaks are officially split into two.

I take 20 at an appropriate time midday and I'd rather remain doing so but not if it's going to start appearing that I've finished 20 mins early,

It’s not their fault you’re slower than them. Maybe the business will look at speeding you up instead

The break entitlement and 'Probable Pattern' (that's how it's described) for breaks are in The Way Forward Agreement 2000

It’s not their fault you’re slower than them. Maybe the business will look at speeding you up instead

1-2 hours before their finish time? i doubt it.
Always do the bare minimum never give 100% you just get punished

On 30 hrs. I start at 845 finish 1445. I leave the office around 930 so I don't need a break when I've only been at work 45 mins. Also lm on hct walk so am I supposed to just stand in middle of the street for 30 minutes when I'm halfway round, where there's no place to sit down or shelter from the weather?

According to the official paperwork you only use the facility on your own PDA in exceptional circumstances ie: you get back late to find the office locked thus not able to scan on the office PDA. Apparently they insist on everyone using the office PDA, whether this will be adhered to by managers who knows but just beware of going off piste and doing your own thing!
