Yeah, true. Can't remember now how much we used to get paid per D2D but with us now regularly delivering on average 3 or 4 different items, I'm sure the 20 something quid per week we get now is less than we would have got using the old system.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑19 Sep 2022, 08:50You get the same money each week, no matter how many D2D you deliver on a given weekstoneybroke wrote: ↑19 Sep 2022, 08:49That's what I'm trying to say. They stopped D2D payments and then paid us the delivery supplement instead. It just made it an easier way to pay us rather than us filling in D2D claim forms every week (and probably saving RM a fair few quid). Basically still paying us, but under a different name. The only reason they started paying us a delivery supplement was because they stopped the D2D payment.Mr Rush wrote: ↑19 Sep 2022, 01:04The delivery supplement started being paid the week after D2D payment ended exactly because it's a supplement for that payment. It's a payment for not getting paid for delivering D2D. That's what a supplement is - making up for a deficiency.stoneybroke wrote: ↑14 Sep 2022, 05:30It was just a massive coincidence that as the d2d payments ended, the delivery supplement was paid the exact following week. Who'd have thought it.

This thread is like being on Facebook!
D2D's are part of the workload for those in deliveries. We don't directly get paid for doing them!
The delivery supplement is not for doing D2D's!

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
We were told by our manager at the time that D2D payment was being stopped and that a set weekly delivery supplement was being paid instead. If that's not the case then why was the delivery supplement bought in? Must have been RM just deciding to pay us extra money, for no reason.Jefferson Starfish wrote: ↑19 Sep 2022, 09:14This thread is like being on Facebook!

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
It's definitely not clear what exactly the delivery supplement is actually for then. I've been told several times that it's effectively an average of what the junk mail would've earned us over the year, paid to everyone, all the time, whether we have 0 or 10 a week, scaled from full time hours (so overtime up to fulltime gains additional money to match the supplement).
If that's wrong, then... wtf is it?

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
It is a supplement for working in the delivery part of the business. It is different to the supplement paid to MC workers (who get far less)
There is no payment for the delivery (or sorting) of D2D.
It actually tells you on the D2D how much you get paid per item - 0.00p.
The money that makes up the Delivery Supplement comes from the money formerly paid out as D2D payments along with the money that used to be paid out as ESA (Early Shift Allowance) which also disappeared at the same time.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I'm starting to think this tedious subject is going to go on until everyone who actually worked here and remembers when we got paid for d2ds has left/retired, or maybe it won't perhaps it'll become a Royal Mail urban legend and live on forevermore, it already seems that way

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
I recall at the time when direct d2d payment stopped and delivery supplement was introduced, a union rep said
it was a good deal as within the year we wouldn't be delivering d2ds anymore

Given the number of people at my do who started after the delivery supplement replaced specific d2d payment think it is payment for d2ds it will live on for ever moreted_e_bear wrote: ↑19 Sep 2022, 12:43I'm starting to think this tedious subject is going to go on until everyone who actually worked here and remembers when we got paid for d2ds has left/retired, or maybe it won't perhaps it'll become a Royal Mail urban legend and live on forevermore, it already seems that way![]()

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
To be fair I blame the union for the confusion.
As removing the D2D payment was very unpopular they tried to be clever by deliberately muddying the waters and positioning the Delivery Supplement as a direct replacement in their comms at the time rather than completely distancing the two as they should have.

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
sorry to bring an old post up, I've been at RM for 6 years, and always assumed it was regarding D2D but even if it's a D2D payment or not. we aren't delivering anything for 2 days this week, so anything set out to be delivered shouldn't be, how can we even cause hassle for the business if after a day or two it's all caught up again? What's the point in even striking just to work harder the week after? I left 2 days worth of D2D this week, I get back to the office and it's all been thrown in for me to do on Monday...? we're striking over pay and the s**t conditions on offer, Now I got extra work on Monday...

You don't have extra work on Monday.
Your hours are the same as any other Monday.

D2D's are live mail and should be delivered just as addressed mail should be.Smir wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 13:24sorry to bring an old post up, I've been at RM for 6 years, and always assumed it was regarding D2D but even if it's a D2D payment or not. we aren't delivering anything for 2 days this week, so anything set out to be delivered shouldn't be, how can we even cause hassle for the business if after a day or two it's all caught up again? Extra work he said! It is possible to have extra work and still complete within contractual hours or work over and claim overtime...
Everything being equal, extra d2ds is extra bit of work. It could make a real difference if the d2ds are bulky and numerous.
Just saying!

Re: D2D deductions during strikes
Got told this week from the dom to do Friday's d2d as we will be going out on strike. I said d2d has always been classed as live mail which I don't have enough prep time and also delivery time to complete.Jefferson Starfish wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 15:06D2D's are live mail and should be delivered just as addressed mail should be.Smir wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 13:24sorry to bring an old post up, I've been at RM for 6 years, and always assumed it was regarding D2D but even if it's a D2D payment or not. we aren't delivering anything for 2 days this week, so anything set out to be delivered shouldn't be, how can we even cause hassle for the business if after a day or two it's all caught up again? After that conversation I didn't do the d2d for Friday. If he did pressure me to do the d2d I would of been cutting off sections of the delivery.
