Article in "The Times", break down is : We have been given a "final warning" by Royal mail, there wiil be job losses, apparantely we have demanded a 10% pay increase. Every day on strike we lose £10m on letters and £15m on parcels. "city analysis say 19 days of walkouts could cost up to 320m".
Also a RM spokesman said "The CWU can be in no doubt of the impact its reckless pursuit of 19 days of of industrial action has on our weakened financial position".
Always a good idea imho buying a paper like this now and again: Know your enemy, follow your enemy, study your enemy. The Times and Royal Mail can Kiss my fat ass.

Again the numbers don’t add up, how can they lose £10 million a day on letters as they will still be paid for and delivered on our return. Parcels I could understand as volume can be shifted elsewhere but the letters bit has to be a lie so how can we trust the parcels figure.

As only 1 piece of current revenue stream, it looks like we should be able to turn a profit when it all gets put together. So where the hell and how the hell are we losing £1M a day!?

Well you’re forgetting Simon and his pirates bonuses, shares, expenses, managers bonuses and bribes, hiring agency staff from their own company, the thousands of middle management roles, staff uniforms and electric vehicles. Sorry, scrap those last 2, so you can see why £25 million per day is quickly gobbled up

I just can’t see how there can be any job losses/cuts. Our office has been regularly failing delivery’s for over 3 years and that is after all the overtime crew mop up the hand backs etc. Who’s gunna do all the work if they get rid of people? Surely just a hollow threat to scare the staff/union.

I agree it's a stupid suggestion, firstly to cut jobs that will mean big redundancy pay outs given the length of service staff have built up, then they''ll have to pay a similar rate of pay to get anybody to do such a physical job, it's not like PO Ferries where they could replace staff with cheap foreign based workers,

They save about £11 million in wages not including tax, NI and pension payments.

There could be a cost further down the line, as I assume OFCOM don't suspend their targets during a strike for the percentage of first and second class mail that is delivered within the presribed time limits, which could attract a fine. This would have to be priced into the profit and loss account.

Also, a company that planned to do a mailshot through Royal Mail might decide to do it another way, such as social media, radio, TV or leaflets via a private leaflet delivery company. There must be some loss here, but probably more than offset by the massive saving on the payroll.
