Re: Just remember Guys...
Why are there so many people on here telling others ‘if you don’t like it, leave’ and ‘you knew the terms and conditions when you started, it’s your own fault’
Expressions I would expect from management or the Daily Mail, not Trade Unionists. You should be ashamed of yourselves

They probably voted no in the ballot (assuming they are CWU members in the first place)...pinstripe wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 16:56Why are there so many people on here telling others ‘if you don’t like it, leave’ and ‘you knew the terms and conditions when you started, it’s your own fault’

Id never resort to calling them names however.Schiff wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 15:53There are plenty of part-timers with kids to feed and a roof to keep over their heads who are striking at the moment. Those who cross the picket line are prolonging the strike and the amount of strike days that will be needed to have the required effect on this management team. They are causing their struggling colleagues to lose more money than they would otherwise need to.
If someone steals money directly out of my pocket then I will judge them. If someone else effectively does exactly the same thing by undermining the sacrifices made by those on strike then I will judge them in exactly the same terms as that thief. The term "w****r" really isn't strong enough at all.
Those who say theyd rather break the compant than agree to new terms go and find yourselves a new job with suitable terms and let those who want to work here carry on.

Re: Just remember Guys...
While I treat everyone the same when I work with them whether or not they have crossed the picket line, I think it is important that people who do cross the line feel a high level of discomfort. They will earn the benefits should we win and this is their toll, while we pay financially they must equally bear the weight of their decisions. At no point am I suggesting being nasty.
If it is too easy for them I know more that would follow.

Re: Just remember Guys….
First off, I apologise for using the abusive term to describe someone who chose to work on a strike day, unlike the majority of his colleagues. Secondly, no, I didn't say it to his face, but I wouldn't call myself a keyboard warrior either.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 15:39I don't.
I just don't think it is right for someone to start abusing someone without knowing anything about their circumstances.
Did he call the person a w****r to their face or is he just another keyboard warrior.
Personally I think it would be better for him to go and enjoy his holiday in Keswick rather than come on here calling people names twice (which is a breach of the forum rules)
As I said, I did over 40 years and never once, went in on a strike day, unlike some in my D.O. It used to make me feel sick, when people opted to do this. I know it's stating the obvious, but these people gain the 'benefits' that are often gained after a strike, without making sacrifices.
'Can't afford', doesn't wash with me I'm afraid, it's a cop out. Yes, times are hard, but they'll be a lot harder, if this battle is lost.
Last and not least, I love The Clash, their debut album being a particular favourite of mine.

Its also important for you to know that the strike breakers feel the same about people that strike, they are ready to accept the new terms as long as they get paid and there is a job to continue with. The strikers are putting the future of the company at risk, when really, if they dont like the new terms, they should jump ship to a compay that has terms they do like.Foxel wrote: ↑30 Sep 2022, 18:15While I treat everyone the same when I work with them whether or not they have crossed the picket line, I think it is important that people who do cross the line feel a high level of discomfort. For example if Tesco put their cornflakes up to £100 per pack would you complain ,try to break them or pop down to Asda and buy them at £2 per pack instead?

No, it is the GREEDY CEO and his shareholder chums who are putting the company at risk....... £400 million to his share holder chums, while the business is apparently losing £1 million a day.....

Re: Just remember Guys...
I believe striking should be a last resort, in our case I think it is, after the way we have worked not only in last 2 years but all the time, to be treated with such contempt by Thompson is disgusting,in my office the work face are brilliant, the managers decent human beings,we all appreciate that they get pressure from their managers so in my office. Bolton west. there is no animosity towards the managers, This has to be a strike to the end, people will struggle financially but you have to look long term, we cannot allow ourselves to be treated as sub human by people whose only daily exertion is to lift a pen and coffee cup,,stay strong.

Firstly, if it is sooo easy to go and get another job why are you so worried?2yearpostie wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 19:11

Secondly, the comparison is pathetic and serves no one.
Thirdly, actually all 5 strikebreakers I know personally, do not accept the new terms, not one of them, they just want the money in the short term claiming they need it.
Fourthly, the CEO is putting the company at risk and accepting his terms is only going to help him strip it.
And last but not least, you are a coward. I'd still work with you and treat you perfectly well. But I'd struggle to find an ounce of respect for you. If everyone was like you we'd have no rights at all, we'd still be living in the dark ages. History is made of defining moments when people stood up for their rights; the civil rights movement, ww2, women's rights, and the The General Strike (1842) to name just a few. I suppose you'd prefer these people stayed in their place. You should be ashamed.

No shareholders, no company, Thats what happened when you lot sold out for 50p when it was privatised. You lost every strike going forward at the point before I even arrived fom a different private company. The share holders will always be paid first in a private company, the workers will always get the advertised amount they signed up for.greengiant wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 20:072yearpostie wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 19:11Its also important for you to know that the strike breakers feel the same about people that strike, they are ready to accept the new terms as long as they get paid and there is a job to continue with.
