Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
Apparently Simon is allegedly claiming that the union met VESA on workplace. More than once

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
If they did,it was probably to find out the truth. As we won’t get the truth from Thompson, makes sense. He is a worried man, what’s next from him. Stay strong & don’t be swayed

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
There’s no issue with the CWU meeting VESA if it’s to ask about talks with Royal Mail
Remember how Simon and Ricky dodged the question? There is something in it - if they hadn’t met them they would have just said they hadn’t met them to the media

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
The issue is the union made such a big deal about vesa having clandestine meetings with RM but never once mentioned they had done the same thing on any video/press anything.

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
It’s two compete different scenarios though
There’s a huge difference between meeting them to find out what’s going on and meeting them to discuss a takeover
It’s like if a husbans is suspected of cheating on his wife with a mistress and the wife meets with the mistress to try and find out if it’s true
The wife meeting the mistress isn’t the same as the man meeting up with the mistress
Yet we’ve to believe both are the same?

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
If the union had met with them to find out what's going on then that would have been important information for their members. If, as has been suggested on another thread, this was a single senior union official having an unauthorised clandestine meeting with them off his own bat then that is potentially very serious. Was that meeting for the benefit of his members or for his own benefit? Did he agree to act in a certain way or to try to avert certain types of action?Acca Dacca wrote: ↑27 Sep 2022, 12:14It’s two compete different scenarios though

Any such meeting should be properly authorised, documented and attended by more than a single official in order to ensure that any improper agreement is reached between the parties

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
The rumours of sneaky clandestine behind the scenes deals were about Terry. Thompson said Ward has knew about the meetings for months so it can’t be anything untoward from Terry like the rumour suggested given he’s been involved the last few months - if he was doing anything he shouldn’t have he wouldn’t have been

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
I'd be more disappointed if they hadn't met the largest shareholder of the business. VESA is after all as close to the "owner" of the business as possible.
They met the government during disputes when the government was the "owner".

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
Please stop defending rubbish! There is no need for the Union to meet the largest shareholder - are the shareholders running the company ona day basis.
Will Vesa ever ever tell the Union what they intend or not intend to do? NO! I doubt VESA will the CEO too - potential insider dealing or letting the cat out of the bag...
It smell fishy and it is wrong! The Union have overstepped the mark and gone beyond its remit; no wonder they are now been gradually cancelled by the operational and management side of Royal Mail.
The Union is not running RM and will never be allowed to run a private company - they cannot do it anyway. Even if we are the workers and we have see and done it all; we are still employees at the end of the day.
The business will have to make its own decisions whether we like it or not but we can always advice or try to mitigate against the worst of their plans.
Stupid conspiracy theory that might end up coming true if we destroy the company and the share price tanked badly or the credit rating becomes junk.
CWU - stop the postering and politics because this might be your last hurrah

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
If they did meet then why didn't they tell us? Why are we finding out in this fashion?Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑27 Sep 2022, 13:30I'd be more disappointed if they hadn't met the largest shareholder of the business.
If they didn't then this thread is nonsense.
A little bit of transparency wouldn't go amiss.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
Explain why?It smell fishy and it is wrong!
Not the anti-union pish you normally spout, we all know your position just explain why it's wrong for the union to try and find out what the major shareholder may intend.
It might be a bit naive in my opinion, I kind of agree with you that they were unlikely to give anything away to the union but that doesn't make it wrong and certainly not fishy, just a little optimistic.

Re: Wtf Did the union meet VESA?
Probably because the meeting was embarrassingly short and achieved the square root of f**k all I would imagine.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑27 Sep 2022, 14:40If they did meet then why didn't they tell us? Why are we finding out in this fashion?
Ego seems to play a large part in all of this.
