The support we have from the public would be lost if we continue to strike tomorrow.

I think you need to start worrying about the support you've just lost from the membership.

Tomorrow will be a s**t show with two days mail because mailcentres network and distribution will now be working tonight.

Members won't forget, the PEC has just undermined the entire dispute.
All you had to do was stand down the picket lines, the public would not have even given a thought to whether they got their mail tomorrow.

This could be costly for RM. All the agency workers will already be scheduled. Doubt they can just send them packing as they will be needed for the next round of strikes.

The network will be set up for the hubs, so distribution will be all out of sync. This should hurt them more than us.

All I have seen by the CWU and members alike is trying to get public support for the industrial action - AND QUITE RIGHTLY SO.

BUT. today's unprecedented event will pull hard at the heart strings of young and old alike not only across the country but around the world.

Striking tomorrow would be showing complete lack of respect for such an event - you have only got to stand outside your front door at this time to note how eerily quiet it is at the moment.

Should the strike have gone ahead, public support gained would turn to public anger at such a selfish attitude, and if that was to happen you might as well wave the white flag and be done with it. The media would have a field day at your expense.

The dispute still stands as is, I support your actions - but I also support the CWU's respect for this unique situation.

Remember, calling off tomorrow's strike will be just as disruptive to RM as all their contingency plans are out of the window, thousands of agency staff not needed to name one.....

They won't happen now, there will be a State Funeral will be the week before which will be a public holiday, if there's no breakthrough then new notice will be given for further strikes later in October, let's hope that doesn't happen either.

True. We have the opportunity to strike tomorrow without the union being behind us.

Just take the day off unpaid. Make our own stand. No disciplinary action if you do take the day off.

The CWU have no choice. RMT and Tessa both have call strike action off for next week.

Those who were not In Royal Mail when Diana died will not understand how the uk will change over the next few days in terms of mourning and how the media and public will view people striking and cheering on picket lines.

Remember this has not happened in 70 years and it is unprecedented and we represent members who work for the Royal Mail.

Our dispute still is on but if we decided to push ahead with the strike tomorrow we would lose all the public support which we have and we need if we are gong to win.

ROYAL Mail is "pleased" that the Union has called off the strike, so for them tomorrow is going to be a "normal" day in spite of the fact the Queen has just died, the business that carries her head on the stamp and the working title ROYAL.

I'm actually disgusted that the management don't care about our Queen's passing, this won't go down well with the public, the media, social media and in the history books, all they're bothered about is the bottom dollar.
