What does going out for a meal have to do with how royal mail works?

That is the basis of his argument. It is clearly false.

For whatever blinkered reason he seems to want there to be only one customer - the one who is paying.
I was trying to demonstrate that in other situations someone who doesn't pay is still a customer.
There can be more than one customer.

Nobody is arguing against that, the point is we have to consider both types of customers when we make decisions, that means in practice protecting the security and integrity of the item while at the same time not being so petty that we're asking customers to get out of their vehicle, go back and unlock the door so we can take a picture on the doorstep.

No-one in the three way contract actually wants that.

As much as the business can be you know what's etc, taking a fricking picture of a packet, like EVERYBODY else is doing is not the end of the world.

Firstly it was a hypothetical situation. It would be erroneous to draw conclusions from it.
Secondly Mrs Clash earns 3x as much as me.

If your job is to get a picture of the door open, why the f**k would you submit a picture of someone's hand or someone sat in a car FFS

Don't take shortcuts. Protect your job, mortgage, marriage, etc

Either get the doorstep photo or take the parcel back to the depot.

Had a Situation today, I was wondering how you would have dealt with it.
Needed to deliver a tracked parcel to a house in the sticks. On driving down their driveway (it's about 250m long) this women is loading her horse into a horse box, attached to her car, totally blocking the drive. Her husbands pulled up behind her in his car. They're both present but the house is a further 100m down the track.

Are you suggesting (from your previous post) that I stand there and fill out a 739, hand it over and return the Tracked Parcel to the office? Or should I have accompanied the Resident (holding the parcel) back down the drive to their house, had them open the door, taken a photo and then walked back to my van?

Spookely enough that's exactly what I did! Put the parcel on the ramp of the horesbox and took a piccie. The Lady said, "They're going to think we live in a horsebox"

We got to be able to use our common sense in this Business. There's not one size fits all.

I'd take a photo of the parcel on the car passenger seat to show it's been delivered to the customer, it's clearly a delivered to customer parcel rather than to a safe place, if the customer has taken possession of the parcel during your delivery.
