People saying RM want a high turnover of staff?
Are you sure? how much does it cost them to recruit, train someone up, do driver training, give out uniform.
Surely they want Posties who stay long term, although they prob want rid of us when we are old and slow down.
Though, walking 10 miles a day, 5 days a week is not a sensible thing to do for years and years. Destroys you.
If they think we are paid well, they are wrong. We go home destroyed, legs ALWAYS aching. Have to eat more due to calories burnt off, have to pay for massages to relieve muscles, have to pay for 3 pairs of trainers a year because the RM shoes are terrible. The aches and pains are not worth the money. You can get jobs with similar pay where you don't go home with swollen feet and tight legs which remain throughout your days off.

I'm awaiting another call this week about a job. Likely a pay cut, (they haven't disclosed it yet), but none of the above issues, and with lots of pros about it. Fingers crossed, mon to thurs too <3
I don't think RM know what they want, or even how to achieve it.

Maybe it's more like they want rid of the older peeps and to replace them with new starters on poorer t&cs.

We have a cut off time 3,4,or5 houses left we stop always finish on time never give the scallywags a minute, royal mail bosses would get their own granny's out on delivery if they could ,absolute nasty people, never trust one.norris9 wrote: ↑06 May 2022, 16:28I do my best to finish on time, but it can't always be done to the exact minute.aiden01 wrote: ↑05 May 2022, 23:58Do you just do an honest's days work or do you go over freely be honest. hfully you give nothing for free but??norris9 wrote: ↑05 May 2022, 23:37with all the strings they attach..... why do we even bother going over our time to help them out, especially at Xmas. Adding strings just shows they do not value us, so we should not give them anything in return. Just do an honest days work within your contracted hours, but nothing more.

I fully agree RM want to get rid of the Old, Unfit & Injured posties. They believe they're not as efficient, or work as fast, as their younger colleagues.
We were discussing it on the IPs frame, out of all the New Recruits we've had over the last couple of years, it's surprising how many had long periods of sick abscence (6 months or more) most of us had never had that much over 20 years! Normally followed by jacking!
Yes while they were here they may have run around faster than the Old & Bold but then they went off sick every couple of months.
The lack of knowledge on IPs & packets is ridiculous. Fair enough they haven't got 10 years of working in the same office behind them, but the level of missorts has rocketted over the years .... and we all know that certain postie that likes to let everyone know, "I don't bloody deliver this street FFS"!
As for Work Ethic: It makes you wonder what some of the latest batch actually consider as "Work" they're like Sloths on Mogodon.
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

I'd happily take a pay cut if I could move to a job where I don't feel exhausted permanently. The extra pound we get an hour above the minimum wage is not worth it for the constant mild pain I feel.WASD wrote: ↑09 May 2022, 10:08Reading my mind?![]()

Postie jobs should pay at least £14 an hour for the physicality of the job, but they want to pay us just above minimum wage.

FFS this is elementary stuff, protect the folk they represent from the moment they stumble into management's clutches. NOT after they've been bullshitted and screwed over.
Considering the narrative of talks breaking down and a possibility of future IA the CWU should really start getting their house in order and go round all the new starters and inform them of the benefits of being in the Union.
In the last few years Royal Mail have totally binged out on recruitment. There are surplus staff now for every occasion - Sundays, LATS, possible evening deliveries....
Not a week goes by that I clock a new face coupled with the latest kit. Must be costing Royal Mail a fortune!!
But Royal Mail management salaries aside, the divide and conquer strategy is very real
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Looking at the CWU’s social media activity I wonder if anyone else is a bit wary? There’s a lot of photos in depot yards (as well as on the gate) and I can’t help but feel RM would get a strike thrown out....after all I thought we weren’t allowed to take photos on RM property?
I’d much prefer it if CWU simply bombarded us with information and reasons on why we would should strike (if it comes to it) and then simply give us the voting form. Keep things completely watertight and above board.

We are all too aware that due to how Right wing this country has become, all trade unions start on the back foot. Why give them an excuse to veto any ballot?
