Kind of spooky ... but the sites just thrown up a jobs advert during this thread. Warehouse staff for Sainsburys £11-£16 per hour. :cuppa

This is what Simon, Ricky and all the other suits in their ivory towers just don't grasp. They can patronise us as much as they want, telling us we've got the best pay and terms and conditions in our field; but everyone is starting to realise that there are similar (or not far off) hourly wages out there that don't involve walking ten miles a day in all weathers with management waiting with a big metaphorical stick if you're deemed not quick or efficient enough.

This continous and obsessive capitalist wet dream towards super hubs, 24 hour operation and dividend drenched shareholders will eventually lead to dry sheets when the boots on the ground get sick and tired of renumerative crumbs and endlessly deteriorating terms and conditions.
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

Cwu.Act now and make sure all reps communicate the process and any news (not wot they think) to all staff on a weekly basis even if they got no info.
To many rummours and false info.Remember last vote ...If its done by the correct rules. RM can afford to have there top advisor's to watch for any minor rule breaks concerning voting.(They got the money!!)Process will get done quicker and I'm sure RM shareholders don't want a strike.

I can see it now if we go on strike we will still have the runners coming in an hour plus before start time hell bent on trying to clear
These clowns will never learn. All our delivery’s got longer with last years revision and the early starts now come in 1 and a half hours early instead of 45 mins early pre revision, all unpaid and nobody asks them to do this. It’s infuriating and makes those who start on time look crap at the job.
People actually do this? Are you serious?
Are they stupid? Do they understand the repercussions...
Happens at our place too. Got back on Saturday last week and a guy was in on his day off to put all his D2Ds in for the following week.
These people will not be insured to be onsite, they are putting both themselves and the company at risk if there were to be an accident. Report it to Speak Up.

That's not how employer liability insurance works.
Anyone on the premises is covered whether you're meant to be there or not.

The problem wouldn't be insurance, the problem would be any potential compensation which you would be unlikely to see since you're pretty much entirely to blame and the fact that the business would not be likely to count it as an accident at work if you weren't meant to be there.

The last thing we need to do is get into petty arguments about who does the job properly, it's pointless and self harming.

No offence aiden but it's also not really on for a mailcentre guy to question someone on delivery, two entirely different worlds.

I think RM rely on a fast turnover of staff who are keen to get a job and basically agree to any terms. Combine this with a management system that never lets new starters know what they're entitled to, and basically just BS them to get the job done and you can see how we've got into the current situation. :thumbdown

The days of the DO being full of 20 plus year Posties seems to be disappearing, which is what RM want, although TBH it's often some of these Senior Posties who have allowed some things to get as bad as they have, by not working properly over the years. :cuppa

Shows that the union really need to pull their fingers out and inform new starters about what should happen but doesn't and what shouldn't happen but does.

FFS this is elementary stuff, protect the folk they represent from the moment they stumble into management's clutches. NOT after they've been bullshitted and screwed over.

I agree :thumbup Our Reps pretty good he normally gets around the New Starters and gives them a quick, "Don't Work for nothing pep talk", including the Cutting Off procedure and Ensuring you take/book your Meal Relief. Amusing to see him being shadowed by the DOM like some Dick Dastardly character .... upset because he's spoiled his opportunity to BS the Newbies into working for FREE! :no no

He says he used to try and speak to them on day one, but nowadays leaves it a week or so because a lot of our New Starters have only lasted a couple of days before they jacked! :cuppa

This has been RM strategy for years now - a long term plan which we are in the middle of
High staff turnover which is what they want and need
Reducing T&C - poor overtime rates, inferior pensions, increased automation, getting rid of legacy allownces etc etc
Weak and incompetent CWU
Large payouts to shareholders
End result - Thousands of new staff on inferior t&c,two-tier workforce which grows larger each passing year
Long term result - RM becomes Amazon,Yodel,DPD etc etc etc

8.6% payrise for Airbus workers plus a backdated 5.1% lump sum. That’s after originally turning down a 2.5% payrise and a £400 lump sum.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
