XP1-ing a Special Delivery and posting it through a letterbox.....it never fails to amaze just how some posties put their job on the line by cutting corners.

You think you're going a good deed, but as this incident clearly shows, the customer will NOT be your friend if it goes wrong (that's presuming it has of course). Back in the good old days you'd get away with these tricks, but in 2022....absolute NO NO.

We were always taught with SD's - you knock the door as addressed, customer is in and signs for it - OK. Customer not in...P739 and back to DO. No neighbour, no safeplace, no delivery to alternative address.

A lot of the usual rules that you probably used when you were working went out the window with Covid. Like everyone else RM were running around like headless chickens.

We were getting a constant stream of ever confusing, and often conflicting, information , and instructions, depending on the latest data from The Government ... The Doctors .... RM .... and the CWU! Strange Times.

We've never ever been told to post SD's though the letterbox, I'm surprised the customer had to appeal the decision when we've clearly made an error by not hand delivering the package to the customer.

It's a funny old game... I specifically asked my line manager if we could post them, and he said yes, been doing it for 2 years.
