It's the mix of mail that's changed over the last few years. Flats and letters are way down, packets are up a fair bit and Tracked is up massively
Your certainly right about the tracked SP. They've gone manic lately. I've had an interesting few days recently trying to clear a backlog of mail. Like many DOs we're struggling with staff shortages and more duties than usual are being failed.
One day I concentrated on several days worth of packets, centered around the Tracked and Specials, with the accompanying mail and perhaps the neighbours as well (if it was for example a small close).
The following day had that days Packets & Parcels, as usual .... but nearly all the mail not taken the day before, as well as that day's. We also had a bulk posting that we spread over several days, so there was still a fair ammount left in the frame.
It did give me an up to date comparision of the differences between the "Parcel" day and the "Letters" day. (It took me 20 mins longer on the "Letters" day). Not a very scientific study but my duty has been developed over the years to deliver Parcels & Packets rather than really long loops of letters. I found it a lot easier on the "Parcels" day.
I don't think it'll be that many years until absolutely everything that's not a flat, letter or D2D gets scanned at every office it passes through, when it gets sorted to a walk and when delivery is attempted

There are new stamps about that require scanning as well.
3 weeks in:
As of next week, all van shares are to take their own oversize parcels on Mon Tues and Sat.
The 8 dedicated parcel duties set up to deliver the parcels will probably be sent out on delivery.
The duties they signed for have disappeared for half the week.
If ever the was a textbook case of how not to implement a revision my DO would be it.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Sounds like the normal suspects have been carving up the jobs already.
Sounds like the normal suspects have been carving up the jobs already.
On the contrary.
The basic structure of the revision is wrong.
It is impossible to complete on time as it is impossible to get out on time.
Half the office failed last weekend.
Confidence in our leaders is zero.
The piss takers have been given a licence to take the piss.
The honest and hard working have been left high and dry.

I have come to the conclusion that it is bizarrely an inherent malpolitics that is dragging Royal Mail into the mire.
In order to get anything accepted at local level management must first grease the wheels of the democratic machine.
In practice this means finding the voices most people (are forced to) listen to in the office and getting them on board, normally the rep and half a dozen of the most vocal full-time senior (usually) men, the easiest way to do that is that most efficient of democratic tools the political/economic bribe.
Most offices seem to be run similar to those towns you see in westerns where the cattle baron owns the sheriff and his deputies and anyone who questions the land grab gets shot in the back.
This is where we are in 2021, waiting for a lone gunman who's quick on the draw to rescue us from small town corruption.
Yes I'm sure there's been some favourable backhanders behind the scenes, because lately some of the CWU leaders & reps have turned from militant Pitbull's to lapdog poodle's since Rico left and the change to new management.
Its all a farce , cant believe the mess and the speed this has been allowed to come in . Still relying on geo hasnt a clue route . Where is Sir Terry ?

It's f***ing embarrassing.
Unfortunately this is too accurate of our office. the rep and his cronies gets to keep thier `specialist jobs` where they do f**k all all day and brew up or go the chippy for their best friends the management, if you question them or put in a grievance which I've done many times they get their mates from higher up the food chain to try and sack you with the bad faith bollocks.
I've given up ever thinking we will get a decent Dom or management team or that some sort of Clint Eastwood type or Sir Lancelot will come to our rescue, it's keep your head down and take a shafting every day and it's even worse now the revisions gone in.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

I take it this happens in the Larger Delivery Offices? Everyone in mine, including the Unit Rep, has a Delivery Duty so there's no opportunity to sit around doing nothing, never mind running to the chippy.
