Re: Structural revision
They seem very unrealistic with their 'out-on-delivery' times. According to our upcoming revision, It's a good hour (1hr 30 mins on Wed/Thurs) earlier than we currently achieve. What about the PT'ers who are happy with their current hours and don't want to come in 'prep' early?

Re: Structural revision
This is an absolute slow motion car crash happening to us all in real time. We are effed.
I do appreciate the CWU, we are definitely better for it.
But I also wonder if some of the leadership are so far removed from reality of life at the coalface that they get their priorities all confused and just sign us up for all kinds of shafting.

How much has been added to the average duty?Grumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 16:44We had 3 senior people go within a week off seeing the new duty route maps. People have been leaving in droves at ours. Good knows what’s going to happen when it’s implemented.

Re: Structural revision
Delivery span has gone from 3h 30 to 4h 30.
And it is 4 h 30.
And it is 4 h 30.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Structural revision
If you’re only getting 4 and a half hour delivery spans introduced now I would say you’ve been quite lucky. That’s been the norm in our office and I’d imagine most others for quite some time.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑10 Aug 2021, 21:13Delivery span has gone from 3h 30 to 4h 30.

Re: Structural revision
Of course it can.Grumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑10 Aug 2021, 22:00About 70/80 delivery points with less time to do it and apparently as there are more delivery points it can somehow be prepped quicker.
Just like using a LWT or Delivery to Neighbour was quicker. And collection on delivery. And scanning all 2d. And customer collect. None of it took longer.
But hey, at least the CWU won us another hour off the working week! That was important! (for some reason). Rise!

I'd tend to agree. We've had some 5 hrs 30 min deliveries for years!Zicomurphy wrote: ↑10 Aug 2021, 21:48If you’re only getting 4 and a half hour delivery spans introduced now I would say you’ve been quite lucky. I'm willing to take anyone's word that they're workload's increased, however I feel some colleagues need to take an honest look at their duties and say, "Am I actually working so hard"? If you are fair dos, but we all know characters that claim they've never stopped for a meal break, have to run to get finished in time, have the biggest duty in the office etc.

It's the mix of mail that's changed over the last few years. Flats and letters are way down, packets are up a fair bit and Tracked is up massivelyDorset Plodder wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 21:55I'd tend to agree. And it is 4 h 30.I realise every DO is different, but are there offices out there that are actually finishing way before time, on a regularl basis. There must be in order for RM to make statements like "On Average our staff only have a 3 hrs 30mins delivery span"?

Your certainly right about the tracked SP. They've gone manic lately.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑12 Aug 2021, 06:42It's the mix of mail that's changed over the last few years. Flats and letters are way down, packets are up a fair bit and Tracked is up massively
One day I concentrated on several days worth of packets, centered around the Tracked and Specials, with the accompanying mail and perhaps the neighbours as well (if it was for example a small close).
The following day had that days Packets & Parcels, as usual .... but nearly all the mail not taken the day before, as well as that day's. We also had a bulk posting that we spread over several days, so there was still a fair ammount left in the frame.
It did give me an up to date comparision of the differences between the "Parcel" day and the "Letters" day. (It took me 20 mins longer on the "Letters" day). Not a very scientific study but my duty has been developed over the years to deliver Parcels & Packets rather than really long loops of letters. I found it a lot easier on the "Parcels" day.
