Why are you so concerned with what martin walsh says youve made your mind up 8 other members of pec why dont you write with your concerns to them..and terry an dave. we can all criticise but why should you come on here an demand a personal reply. if you dont like agreement simply vote no not a BIG NO OR BIG YES just a simple yes or no. At least martin walsh gives the odd update without him you wouldnt know what was going on.neil1969 wrote: ↑22 Jan 2021, 20:51Come on martin, what's the big secret In the 24 issues yet to be addressed?
If we've got nothing to be concerned about then why are we been kept in the dark?
Genuine question, what the hell is going on at cwu headquarters?
Do you think we aren't capable of reading documents & making our own minds up?
Or are you just as corrupt as RM management?

As a sidenote, they do exactly that in Japan and have done for years - I actually found it quite useful when I lived there..twiddledumb wrote: ↑22 Jan 2021, 17:56I mean what the hell does that even mean? Are posties now going to be delivering your shopping to your door

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Why you should support the agreement
NO
In previous negotiations the CWU kept us updated every step of the way. But in this one everything has been clouded in secrecy and has literally dragged on for months. They have not at any point involved the most important people that exist in a Union. And these 24 issues that have not been addressed tells me that these negotiations are still far from complete. Its a bit like buying a house where everything looks like its in good working order and expecting the buyer to agree the deal and make the purchase without completing all the necessary checks and doing a survey to find that the house might be suffering from damp or dry rot. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to jump in headfirst and don't read the disclaimer nor the small print.
And I'm still of the conviction that a SWW will bring about more pressure. I don't know much about this 100 BSI (bulls*t index) that the CWU think they have gotten rid of but do we really believe that a company that spends thousands on these new wave clocking in machines and PDA's are not big brother? Now if you work on the machines or in a cushy management role putting up pie-charts in your office, well, an hour off the working week might not be too much of a big deal. But when you work outside on the streets in the cold and sodden rain, will checks be made as to why you were sat in the van for 20 minutes or why you left through the clocking out system 20 minutes early on a Saturday? You bet. And for those cynical enough (because there are a few on here) to say if you don't like it, why not leave, I've been in this job for years and I believe its worth protecting what you have rather than what you are about to lose. The best companies in the world are not always those who pay more money; it is those who actively invest and engage with their staff and improve working conditions so that its a great place to work.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The standard entry level entitlement is 22.5 days.best holidays
Without bank holidays which are not chosen by the members this would be 5.5 days less than the statutory minimum and unlawful.
Members are forced to choose their holidays up to 18 months in advance.
One thing this job does not have is the best holidays.

No please don't, if we enforced such a divisive rule then we would only get a few posts a day and RMC would die a slow death.Kevin.r.smith wrote: ↑23 Jan 2021, 18:07Look at the end day we Have a good job good pension good wages stop f***ing moaning
Also who gets to say what is "moaning" and what is "legitimate debate".

Re: Why you should support the agreement
Seems to be by far the most convoluted and ambiguous strings agreement attached to a pay deal including another attempt by Terry & Co. to shoehorn in a shorter working week, that has never been put to the members as a standalone principal.
Through a combination of Covid affecting production and supply lines, plus tarrifs from the Brexit deal that kicked in a few weeks ago, everything from basic to luxury goods are rocketing in price to varying degrees.
Absolutely no way I can vote yes on this deal, it even makes "the deal of the century" after the strikes in 2009 look good!

With so many unknowns it's as good as a chocolate teapot. The CWU should ave waited until all the unknowns were sorted before balloting

I may be being a bit thick here , but the statutory minimum is 28 days , which consist of 4 weeks(20 days) and 8 bank holidays.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑23 Jan 2021, 20:19The standard entry level entitlement is 22.5 days.best holidays

Royal Mail give you 4 weeks 2.5 days and when you add the 8 bank holidays this equals 30.5 days.
I do agree your point re 18 months in advance.

It's up to the individual employer whether they use bank holidays to make up any shortfall.
Some do and some don't.
It's not a great basic entitlement and other than a single day extra at 5 years it takes 15 years service to see any significant uplift.
Add that to the ridiculous allocation system and the fact that most managers refuse short notice requests by default means that our holidays are certainly not "great".

We were told in our office to 'remember and vote on the pay deal'.
That's what it's all about for 90% of the membership.

OMG you sound like you write for the courier. All of what you said is totally wrong, best wages? best pension? best holidays? Who are you comparing that with? I presume other posties around the world. If so then that is clearly not true.Kevin.r.smith wrote: ↑23 Jan 2021, 19:47Look it may not be the best deal in the world it’s a job that pays the best wages best pension best holidays and the end of the day technology will always win
