Report the builder for those letterbox as get someone to educate him the error of his ways. If I was goverment I would fine those companies for manufacturing and installing those ankle height letterboxes.

I thought they'd brought in some H&S Legislation to use waist high A4 size letterboxes? I've spoken to several installers and they've said, "We basically put the letterbox wherever the customer asks us to". The odd low letterbox is bad enough but I did deliver to a new estate where the Architect had wanted full length glass front doors with a bloody letterbox at the bottom! It was like some sort of gym workout doing that estate.

The CWU therefore considers that the Government should implement the specifications set out in current European Standard (EN 13724) covering private letter boxes. The government has on several occasions rejected calls from the CWU to enact European building regulation standard EN13724 outlawing low level letter boxes by enshrining the standard in Law. In 2002 the European Standard EN 13724 was introduced and states that for "ergonomic and safety reasons" the centreline of the letter box aperture should be at a height between 700 mm (2 ft 3.5 inches) 1700mm (5ft 7inches).

Why have a small pouch to replace a vest if we a sequencing mail on the fly which must mean reading while walking which we are told not to do. The first part of leadership is to do what you ask of your men/women I have yet to see such leadership in doing such a stupid idea and will refrain from doing so till I see them show me the way!

Thanks for the link TBT. As a European Building Standard I take it we'll be ignoring that after Brexit? Nowadays I just deal with low letterboxes by leaving a corner of the mail stuck in the letterbox. Then the buggers have to bend down to free it! So at least it's as much a nuisance to them as it is to me!

I just screw up the Mail as I put it in,if anyone moans I just say that I can't bend down enough to put it in properly (which is true)
