Can anyone explain this to me
Got the post today, and there was stuff missing. one envelope was open with a passport and voters role letter missing. The rest was still there. it was supposed to be signed for but there want a sticker for it. And one of the other envelope's was opened with wage slips missing. Both envelope's were from different companys. Does anyone know what could of happened.

First check with the sender they should have proof of posting? Then if it is royal mail go to their site and try track and trace with the consignment number on it. Take it from there? That is if it is royal mail and not one of the cowboy companies.Baxter wrote:Got the post today, and there was stuff missing. one envelope was open with a passport and voters role letter missing. If a passport is missing it should be reported to the police and/or issuing authority. If you report it to the police our IB may bet involved as well.

Thanks for the replys
@brisomerset
Just contacted the senders and there taking it up with royal mail. just waiting for them to call back now.
@IWW Fellow Worker
i dont think it was mis-delivered. Why would someone go to the trouble to post it back and not use a sealed envelope and/or put the contents back in.
It could happen but doesnt seem likely.
@TrueBlueTerrier
We were told to take the envelope's to the police station. which we have done, but i cant imagine anything coming from that.
I'll keep the thread updated when i make more progress. Thanks everyone.

You would be surprised. A couple of weeks ago, a birth certificate was posted to a number 4 on my delivery instead of the proper number which was 7. Despite the peron in number 7's name being on it, the person in number 4 opened it, then re-posted it without sealing it up. I did what any postman/woman should do, and got the item officially sealed.Baxter wrote:@IWW Fellow Worker

I deliver passports (returned from the DVLA etc) and cashcards.
There are very few of us that are crooked and using another courier is probably more risky, despite what the press might say.
I'd also contact your delivery office and speak to the DOM. Even if there is an honest explaination peoples jobs are at stake and local enquiries should be made official.

I would'nt trust the Courier firms that deliver the passports, we've had loads of surcharges in where the Courier has just dumped them in a post box.

Well done comrade. That is the correct action - if a little conformist!!IWW Fellow Worker wrote:You would be surprised. SMS only deliver on a weekday between 9-5, when most people are at work. When I got my new passport, they left a card saying that they had tried to deliver it and that I had to ring them to arrange a new delivery date. when I rang them I got a long recorded/automated message which just gave me another delivery date - and I would have to be in all day 9-5. I rang the Passport Office and got them to send it by RM Special Delivery as at least I could then collect it from the DO if I wasn't in when the postie called.k66yla wrote:I would'nt trust the Courier firms that deliver the passports, we've had loads of surcharges in where the Courier has just dumped them in a post box.

The Police needed the envelopes for evedence, so that when someone tries to use your identity, they will be ready for them. If it is a known offender, there is also the chance that they coiuld get fingerprints from it, so they could track them down. Identity theft is a big problem these days.Baxter wrote:Thanks for the replys

The biggest problem though, is the number of casuals/agency that are being brought in. The vast majority of them are decent honest people, who just want to make a living. But we do sometimes get dishonest people coming in, and it's the IBs job to find, sack, and if neccessary prosecute them.

Indeed. I was quite shocked that the RM used casuals at all.andy2007 wrote:The Police needed the envelopes for evedence, so that when someone tries to use your identity, they will be ready for them.
