World Class Safety Pillocks
It seems Royal Mail are starting to roll out world class health and safety pillar now in delivery offices. We all realise that this is to undermine the CWU H&S reps job
My question is, a Trade Union H&S rep receives training and has full legal protections and certification
What authority and protections do these world class H&S Pillars have, what legal
authority do they have in any individual office. Whose decision will take precedence, a certificated H&S rep, or a world class pillar
Are these world class pillars seen as some sort of "safety committee" as to the SRSC 1997 Regulations.

Re: World Class Safety Pillocks
a CWU H+S Rep does not have any Authority to Stop work where as the world class pillar rep probably will, The CWU rep does not have the authority to stop work and only to make representations to the employer, and to conduct his/her own investigations and consult staff etc, as for who out ranks who it will make no difference as any h+s decision will be above their heads with the dom anyway and any disagreement with the doms decision would just need to be followed under the current disagreement processgluteus maximus wrote:It seems Royal Mail are starting to roll out world class health and safety pillar now in delivery offices. Re: World Class Safety Pillocks
Thank you for the response but who made any suggestions about stopping work??
That is a highly subjective response
My question still has not been answered though, please Anallise the question first before commenting

Re: World Class Safety Pillocks
i came onto this forum to ask a legitimate question for which i expected at least an educated response. If people do not know the answer then i expect them to say so. no one individual is an oracle. I myself thought this forum was a source of information to be shared for the benefit of all staff, not a willy waving exercise.

Re: World Class Safety Pillocks
ok no need to be rude, and if your going to suggest i analyse the question first, i suggest you analyse the facts before you pose it, there is no such thing as the SRSC 1997 regulations, get your facts right if your going to be rude, pleasegluteus maximus wrote:Thank you for the response but who made any suggestions about stopping work??

My answer then
let me put it this way
neither's decision will take precedence, the DOM is the one who makes the decisions not either of CWU rep or the Pillar, it will be up to him to weigh up the evidence presented by both parties and make a decision
as for protection, that protection applies equally to any individual employee whether, a normal employee, CWU H+S rep or Pillar, they are all protected the same under the Employment rights act 1996

Re: World Class Safety Pillocks

i am giving you facts not opinions, you asked a very broad question, you got a broad repkly, ask something specific and you will get a specific reply possibly including parts of the act and where to lookgluteus maximus wrote:If i seem blunt then i apologise, i require facts for which i can then substantiate, not peoples own personal opinions, it is nothing personal

Re: World Class Safety Pillocks
The protections as you stated are in the Employment Rights Act, that will be section 100
Are these world class pillars recognised in any official capacity as a safety committee as to the SRSC Regulations

Re: World Class Safety Pillocks
they are not considered a safety committee under the SRSC Regulations as they are not employee elected, however if a safety committee was set up they could be members of that committee as could any other employee not just union safety repsgluteus maximus wrote:The protections as you stated are in the Employment Rights Act, that will be section 100
