Re: OK so...
good chance of a strike .i cant see many changes in negotiations.expect lots of posturing and lies and spin and general buffoonary from both sides.the c.w.u will sell us another deal of the century and we will toddle back to work wondering what the f**K happened.the honest postie will probably come out of this sorry mess dazed and very confused...so!!! not all bad..

Depends on the result of the ballot.BingBong wrote:with the IA Ballot papers due to be sent out soon what are the chances now of a strike? surely the time is now or never really?
And that depends on peoples willingness to fight for and defend our jobs and pensions.

Surely the big worry is too many voting 'yes', or not voting, and then support for the strike soon crumbling.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Depends on the result of the ballot.BingBong wrote:with the IA Ballot papers due to be sent out soon what are the chances now of a strike? surely the time is now or never really?

I just don't get why they are letting RM have more time. They got that with the Boycott threat, the IA ballot should of been put in motion straight after that. Now it's atleast another month away before anything could happen.

How can too many voting yes be THE big worry?
Surely that's what we want.

Sorry, my mistake, should have been "Surely the big worry is too few voting 'yes' or too many not voting .........."UnhappyGremlin wrote:Don't get that.Lounge Lizard wrote:Surely the big worry is too many voting 'yes', or not voting, and then support for the strike soon crumbling.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Depends on the result of the ballot.BingBong wrote:with the IA Ballot papers due to be sent out soon what are the chances now of a strike? surely the time is now or never really?

Im fed up of hearing in my office that they cant afford to strike but the rep is doing a good job of the union and trying to get support though.

I agree, I'm not sure about how the vote will go, as many are still unhappy from the last debacle.
We need a good turnout, and a high % yes vote, otherwise it will be the usual talk from RM and the media about us striking with no real mandate etc.

Re: OK so...
I think the tactics were all wrong last time and whilst there was a massive backlog of mail the service never came to a complete standstill and the IA dragged on for weeks ... in many ways it played into the hands of our competitors and was costly in terms of wages with OPGs put under pressure when they did return to work.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Ok, did wonder.Lounge Lizard wrote:Sorry, my mistake, should have been "Surely the big worry is too few voting 'yes' or too many not voting .........."UnhappyGremlin wrote:Don't get that.Lounge Lizard wrote:Surely the big worry is too many voting 'yes', or not voting, and then support for the strike soon crumbling.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Depends on the result of the ballot.BingBong wrote:with the IA Ballot papers due to be sent out soon what are the chances now of a strike? surely the time is now or never really?

Next time out more needs to be accomplished in a shorter space of time and when staff do work they should only work their hours at an sustainable work rate, take their breaks, follow SOPs and SSOW and use the correct equipment at all times ... as has been said many times before .
