Re: Scotland the Brave
It's oft been said that the Falklands are very similar to many a Scottish island and that it would have been much cheaper thirty years ago to move the 3140 islanders to an equally bleak Caledonian island with lots of sheep, they'd hardly notice the difference, than to mount an extensive military operation there.andy prentice wrote:Heres' point as i swore under oath for queen and Country, will i get dragged back in the army careers office and swear too Salmond and oath?
Seiously though, the Argentines are threating too take over the Falklands again, more so with the oil.So if independence was declared would that mean Scotland would have too battle them with England for the oil rights etc...?

Just as a matter of interest LL, what exactly is your fascination with sheep.........you don't have welsh ancestry by any chance

Unfortunately most bleak Caledonian islands are now being used to rehouse Glasgow's heroin addicts.Lounge Lizard wrote: It's oft been said that the Falklands are very similar to many a Scottish island and that it would have been much cheaper thirty years ago to move the 3140 islanders to an equally bleak Caledonian island with lots of sheep, they'd hardly notice the difference
There are rumours that Port Glasgow is to be renamed Port Methadone.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

No fascination with sheep whatsoever, and spend a while trawling through my 4480 posts and I doubt if you'll find 5, or 0.1%, that mention those beasts of the field.dvbuk55 wrote:Lounge Lizard wrote:It's oft been said that the Falklands are very similar to many a Scottish island and that it would have been much cheaper thirty years ago to move the 3140 islanders to an equally bleak Caledonian island with lots of sheep, they'd hardly notice the difference, than to mount an extensive military operation there.andy prentice wrote:Heres' point as i swore under oath for queen and Country, will i get dragged back in the army careers office and swear too Salmond and oath?
