Seiously though, the Argentines are threating too take over the Falklands again, more so with the oil.So if independence was declared would that mean Scotland would have too battle them with England for the oil rights etc...?
It's oft been said that the Falklands are very similar to many a Scottish island and that it would have been much cheaper thirty years ago to move the 3140 islanders to an equally bleak Caledonian island with lots of sheep, they'd hardly notice the difference, than to mount an extensive military operation there. :Very Happy except that (a) Thatcher knew it would get her another term in office and (b) if there's big oil reserves in Falklands waters then it may well have been in our interests to defend them against those nasty Argies.

Unfortunately most bleak Caledonian islands are now being used to rehouse Glasgow's heroin addicts.
There are rumours that Port Glasgow is to be renamed Port Methadone.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I thought that was why they built Cumbernauld and East Kilbride.
Don't tell me they're full already.

No fascination with sheep whatsoever, and spend a while trawling through my 4480 posts and I doubt if you'll find 5, or 0.1%, that mention those beasts of the field. :Very Happy
And, no, I can't boast Welsh ancestry. :nana :nana
