Overcharged at the counter

Hi folks,

Just after some advice. I usually send a few boxes per month by standard parcels @ £4.41. The boxes are never over 2kg so I know for a fact it shouldn't cost any more (and I use the RM OBA system on a daily basis at work, I know the ins and outs for parcel costing). Never had a problem before. We've moved house and use a different post office, I've been every time, but I couldn't go today so sent my mum. She came back being charged £7.18 1st class post. Now my mum is very strong willed, and said no she wants it sent by standard parcels at £4.41 (she has been loads of times for me at the old address). The staff member said as it's over 1kg, it has to go by 1st class. Unfortunately my mum didn't have her mobile on her so paid up and went home.

It's not the end of the world, but when I've charged my customer £5.50 for postage (new business idea working from home), every penny counts as the rest goes towards my packaging costs.

There's no chance of me getting the difference back is there? (I'll be visiting the PO and asking them to train their staff again!)

Yeah I would certainly visit the PO in question armed with receipt and print out from RM website. I don't hold much hope to be honest of getting it refunded. I remember asking for a 2nd class recorded package one day, and she gave me first, when I questioned it, she sent it first for price of 2nd because it was her fault.

The prices you have quoted are certainly for the same weight of parcel, so no worries with the weight.
