Well said! Exactly right and we SHOULD learn the rules to the letter AND APPLY THEM RIGOROUSLY. It's a Health and Safety. We have posters all over the office telling us how important H&S rules are - the soft option, easy touch of helmets and hi-vis jackets comes to mind immediately. As well as no walking and reading, no cutting out paths, waiting 2 minutes at a door for Packets and RDs etc, we should not forget pouch weight limits and cycle faults as well, for example. If your bell doesn't work or your rear reflector is missing it is ILLEGAL to go on the public highway. Noone could critisize any worker for applying the H&S rules - it's his duty under the terms of his employment contract. If we all did it properly Royal Mail would feel the pinch immediately and then, perhaps, start to get real.I sympatise with your plight mate, and as for the idiots in your office laughing about it, maybe they will reap what they sow. I dont have ant magical soloution for you but have you asked to get the walk tested out on the street. Most DOMs run a mile at this because they know that nearly all walks where regular posties are struggling to complete are bound to be undoable, especially if tested following RMs own rules (no walking and reading, no cutting out paths, waiting 2 minutes at a door for Packets and RDs etc) The backing of your colleagues in your office would have been nice, but i`d be going up the union ladder to get proper help with this if it was me, because they should not leave you out to dry.
keep calm at all times, and learn THEIR rules, because most DOMs dont even know them and believe it or not most will justify why you are struggling. GOOD LUCK.

I am trying not to slag of people who hold the "simple" view that if you don't like it leave, but it strikes me they tend to transfer their common sense skills and IQ level into that bosses phrase. It ain't simple to leave and anyway why should they, if everyone who did not like the job as it was, left without trying to change it, our T&Cs would be far worse than they are now.BELIAL wrote:flyingsam wrote:patman is right, if people don't like their job, then walk.simples.Need anyone say more.
