I sympatise with your plight mate, and as for the idiots in your office laughing about it, maybe they will reap what they sow. I dont have ant magical soloution for you but have you asked to get the walk tested out on the street. Most DOMs run a mile at this because they know that nearly all walks where regular posties are struggling to complete are bound to be undoable, especially if tested following RMs own rules (no walking and reading, no cutting out paths, waiting 2 minutes at a door for Packets and RDs etc) The backing of your colleagues in your office would have been nice, but i`d be going up the union ladder to get proper help with this if it was me, because they should not leave you out to dry.
keep calm at all times, and learn THEIR rules, because most DOMs dont even know them and believe it or not most will justify why you are struggling. GOOD LUCK.
Well said! Exactly right and we SHOULD learn the rules to the letter AND APPLY THEM RIGOROUSLY. It's a Health and Safety. We have posters all over the office telling us how important H&S rules are - the soft option, easy touch of helmets and hi-vis jackets comes to mind immediately. As well as no walking and reading, no cutting out paths, waiting 2 minutes at a door for Packets and RDs etc, we should not forget pouch weight limits and cycle faults as well, for example. If your bell doesn't work or your rear reflector is missing it is ILLEGAL to go on the public highway. Noone could critisize any worker for applying the H&S rules - it's his duty under the terms of his employment contract. If we all did it properly Royal Mail would feel the pinch immediately and then, perhaps, start to get real.

Cheers all,
Cyclesareus

One of the problems we have with this "share" issue is the fooking useless union we have!
Went on the cwu website "nothing" for ages about it!
Is this going to end as things normally do , with our union saying "we have negotiated a deal for you where you all get shafted again"
Our union is fast becoming a joke
We should be walking out the door until this "fiddle" is sorted out

Got my sick days all sorted and ready to go. Play the system, don't do anything more than you have to and take all RM promises with a pinch of salt. It's just a job and at the end of the week you get your dosh. No more, no less. Do your hours collect your wages and forget about the shite till next day. Oh yeah and put your ipod headphones in when the manager does his silly school master team bollockings

I am trying not to slag of people who hold the "simple" view that if you don't like it leave, but it strikes me they tend to transfer their common sense skills and IQ level into that bosses phrase. It ain't simple to leave and anyway why should they, if everyone who did not like the job as it was, left without trying to change it, our T&Cs would be far worse than they are now.

So for everyone who stays despite not liking the job, and are staying in an attempt to slow down the attacks or even to improve our lot - you have my thanks, but apparently not from what appears to be the "Thatcher Kids" generation who seem to be joining the work force lately.

it goes back to the fundamentals of the employment contract.
i offer you my labor- i offer you x pay.
people often forget that it has two sides.

why should one side constantly seek to change the nature of the contract.
postmen have there bikes removed and replaced by trolleys only months later their rounds are park and loop
the same postmen find their small office is closed and incorporated into a bigger office 10 miles away hence they travel further into work.
my point:
If every postman who didnt like change left.... you compliant smug types would be lonely !..and left to pick up the pieces.
something else i learned from another industry i worked in.
when a job is challenging it weeds out the lazy and the unsuitable.
so eventually you end up with a robust workforce. :hmmmm The flip side is that when management turn your your job into
something totally unachievable the reverse happens! people who can see the writing on the wall start to leave.
and since it easier to leave if your qualified or have other skills.even people with high moral standards leave ie they refuse to be bullied.
in short bullying degrades the workforce.im certainly not saying we that are left are not all the ticket! just that the people that are leaving now
are often our best.
"All the people with get up and go... They got up and and went.."
