The people who supply the Sub Post Offices, Supply Chain, get a pay rise, but the Sub Postmasters who generate 80% of POL's income get nowt.

I'm sure there must be some logic in that :confused

If it's possible, (ie legal), ask the Federation of Subpostmasters to ballot you for a rule 13.

If it's not possible... :Boo hoo!

And a rule 13 would be?

In any event I was questioning the logic in paying an increase to back office support staff rather than front line income earners. Undermine the front line, and the back office will loose their jobs first!

Subbie
Rule 13 Industrial Action

1. The NEC, Annual Conference, Special Conference or a properly convened Branch Meeting may in furtherance of the Union's objectives decide to authorise, endorse, call or take industrial action, including strike action. All such action must be within the law and in accordance with, and in compliance of, all statutory obligations, inclusive of ballots etc. Where a Branch decides to take action to protect immediate local interests, the General Secretary and NEC must be informed.

2. For the avoidance of doubt it is confirmed that nothing contained in these Rules empowers a Branch or any other person, committee, group or body of persons to authorise, endorse, call or take industrial action without there being a statutory ballot and compliance in all other respects with the requirements of Part V of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 as amended or replaced from time to time.

In other words, if the Fed doesn't have strike rights then you have no cards left to play :cuppa

To answer your 'logic' question... The cold hard fact is it's all down to what value POL say you bring to the table.. Cut off the supply of money from CViT and what are you supposed to pay your customers with? IOU's? Wallace and Gromit stamps? :d'oh!

The movement and distribution of money IS the business.

The amount of times the subs round us shut 'cos they run out of money due to a delivery failure... And that's without a strike...

Amazingly, the CWU, for once, had the foresight and focussed on this almost 8 months ago. That is why they pushed hard for many iterations of that deal to go through.
All other priorities rescinded. Simple really.

It's all a moot point anyway. If paypoint wins the benefit contract we are ALL fooked. Every man jack of us.

Subbie,
CVIT & Cash Centres bring their far share to the table in the form of External businesses & The Bank of England.
As Billy said, no Supply Chain, no money, no stock etc :Applause . We all play our part in making the Post Office what it is.
My experiences of Sub Offices as a customer have been less than good. I would rather stand in a queue in a Crown Office, the service is much better regardless of revenue for the business :whistle

Once again I couldn't agree more with billy. It's looking more and more likely to me that we're all about to get shafted big time.

I remember standing on the picket line in the late 80's with my fellow posties in support of their strike (when we went out for 2 weeks) I know it's a whole different ball game now compared to then, but I don't think any of us can stand aside because who knows you'll be next.

It's time for everyone in RMG to show us some support back, as what's going on around us is a disgrace.

I'd also like to add RMG has just published an operating profit of 20 million pounds for POL in the first six months of this year. Coupled with the 41 million operating profit for the same period last year I would have thought we deserved something, especially as everyone else seems to have.

Have you read the recent Government Policy Statement, in particular the sections covering Crown Post Offices, the link for which I posted under the heading 'Securing the Post Office Network in the digital age'? I think you will find the answer there. Once again, I think we may shortly have something a little more to worry about than a pay rise.

Couldn't agree more with The BFO, but what I find astounding is the lack of information from the CWU over all this. :silenced

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but just to give you all the heads up... CWU will be balloting for strikes in February.

Too little, WAY too late..... :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

The time for action is NOW. We're all in, because we can't have any time off in the four week blocked off period, so why has the CWU not balloted for action. :evil/mad

In all my time in the Post Office I've never known such a lack of communication for God's sake you're the COMMUNICATION workers union. :evil/mad :evil/mad

We could accept not getting a rise across the board in these difficult times, but when everyone else in RMG does including our managers surely that can't be right? :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad
