The Tories are looking at introducing laws setting new minimum turnout thresholds for strike ballots on the basis that they can only be lawful disputes if a majority of those being called out on strike have voted for it in a ballot. In the case of the Royal Mail dispute there was a clear majority for the strike among those voting, but not among the total workforce.
Well that would be a closed shop then, now who made that illegal.

There was a slim but absolute majority of CWU members voting for the strike and the Cons ignore this, if they want the whole workforce to vote then the whole workforce has to be in the Union - ergo a closed shop.

Joined up thinking - give me a rest they cant even see how far out of touch they are and they should be named the Criminal Class not the Political Class.

I've had had the misfortune to have seen Clarke once , he seemed to have had too many sherries / ports - it's a bit laughable that " Team Cameron " have to wheel these sort of people out again :hmmmm

The Tories would sell their own grandmother for a profit, seriously they were kicked out as a corrupt government by the people of this country to be replaced by new Labour which turned out to be Old Tory.

Both governments have s**t on not only Royal Mail but the working people of this country.

We should only be supporting with the political levy MPs who are in favor of NO Privatization of Royal Mail

Already the public and Businesses have a worse service over the years with no second delivery,No Sunday Collections
Late arrival of Mail which arrives late into the afternoon.

Is this called progress? now they want to sell us to the greedy and corrupt city whose only morals are
Dog eat Dog.
God help the pensioners who live in the Rural areas 3000 post offices closed for what ,selfish greedy
corrupt people.
Fight on regardless support your Union do not give in above all use your Votes in the General Election

All, I urge you to read the following article re the Conservatives' plans to privatise RM. Without a doubt the Tories will privatise RM to the highest bidder as this is what the party stands for. Once in private hands, 'efficiency' will be the name of the game and jobs will go at an even faster rate and we shall all be made to work much harder than we already do. I for one will vote Labour as they clearly have shelved all plans for privatisation. Last year Labour only planned a part-privatisation, the Tories will go for 100% and a private equity house is being lined up - we all know what a PE house will do to the company.

If you dont believe me read here http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20100414/tu ... 6b408.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I encourage you all to think before you vote, dont be fooled by The Sun and The Times - they are only biased against Labour as their owner Rupert Murdoch is all pally with David Cameron. Read The Independent for an unbiased view of what the REALITY is.

Please encourage all our colleagues to think before they vote, I really dont want the Tories messing up our jobs in the company we love . I still have some time to go before I retire :cuppa

Too late, "Hard Labour" have beaten the Tories to it, messing up our jobs. :cuppa
The Tories can only do what "Hard Labour", going on their track record so far, will do anyway, and that's make life even more difficult for those of us unlucky enough to need to depend on a job in this shytehole of a company. :evil/mad

I don't see why their would'nt be a seperate Scottish Royal Mail in the same way as we had Scottish Gas (pre-privatisation).

Whether it would be run any better is anybodys guess,
I think more managers have been suspended in Scotland then anywhere else in the U.K.
No business would ever bid for a separate Scottish Royal Rail, with all the distances to the highlands and islands etc, unless the Universal Service Obligation was dropped for North Britain.

The quality of service figures suggest we have done away with the USO north of the border.
That's one of the reasons they had to fiddle the figures - "allegedly"
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
