I had to go out on a semi rural yesterday on my own, and walked 9.5 miles . I`m 65. Not looking forward to "peak".Amiga500 wrote: ↑24 Aug 2026, 20:31Gaslit by managers and fellow posties at my DO. Just waiting till peak so their bravado starts to crack and they start to show the pressure. People coming in 45 minutes early every day to "get a start" on their fitting not realising they're just making unachievable duties look achievable.FirstPost wrote: ↑24 Aug 2026, 20:05Can you give more details on why it’s broken you?Amiga500 wrote: ↑24 Aug 2026, 20:03DM26 has completely broken me. It's alright if you're a single driver but as the above poster says the pairing is absolutely destroyed. Every. Single. Day. I get home and barely have energy to do anything. Going to be going on long term sick if this continues the way it is, can't see a way out. Maybe death is the only answer, maybe thats' what RM want??
Job's just become too physical, no two ways about it. Aching each day and under 40 still, can't imagine what the old boys feel like under this new model.

We've been told that the mech won't be changing during Xmas pressure, they'll still be heavy and light days for each walk.funkflex55 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 18:22I think they don't add the walks together so that peakmas they can then put the 4 people back on the 4:walks and maybe get some mail done.

That's fine, the point is it'll be back to two people taking care of two duties no messing about getting bits off other dutiesSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 19:29We've been told that the mech won't be changing during Xmas pressure, they'll still be heavy and light days for each walk.funkflex55 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 18:22I think they don't add the walks together so that peakmas they can then put the 4 people back on the 4:walks and maybe get some mail done.

No messing? We're 10 days in and walks are failing due to not enough staff despite our manager telling the area manager there's loads of surplus staff to send everywhere else.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 19:47That's fine, the point is it'll be back to two people taking care of two duties no messing about.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 19:29We've been told that the mech won't be changing during Xmas pressure, they'll still be heavy and light days for each walk.funkflex55 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 18:22I think they don't add the walks together so that peakmas they can then put the 4 people back on the 4:walks and maybe get some mail done.

Re: DM 26 questions
I meant no messing getting bits off other duties, plus there should be spare staff or agency staff for extra parcel deliveries like previous Christmases, dunno if that will actually happen though.smok3y666 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 20:12No messing? Re: DM 26 questions
Yeah, that would work and still make more sense than one person prepping parts of their walk that they never take out.Mr Rush wrote: ↑26 Aug 2026, 16:50For walks that are already maxed out on frame wings and fully double-slotted, where can any more delivery points possibly go? I thought they should just stick a small three column frame (no wings) between each pairing, that way no-one is crossing the office to get to the third frame. As it is, I'm well over the hill on making suggestions because noöne's listening.

Re: DM 26 questions
As i keep saying uneven workloads some posties are getting hammered while others are not,to all union officials,WHERE ARE YOU !!!! we pay for a service and we are not getting it,you are paid to look out for our best interest and have abandoned us.Perseus wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 12:23Very similar in ours with some of the single persons in the pod. 2/3 of a 750 delivery point duty on heavy and 2/3 of a 750 houses duty on light. So effectively being in charge of all items for 1000 houses. Singletons doing the 50/50 are lucky to hit 300 houses, before the 50/50, so 150 houses a day with all items. The job of dreams.holty18 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026, 09:38Everyone in our office want's the Rural rounds, they have essentially got a job upgrade, longer hour days while doing the 50/50 models, it's hilarious how this has came through, they will just drag there little feet around and have a nice easy day while the pods get absolutely hammered, the solo driver in the pods has to do 2/3 of 2 rounds heavy rounds then 2/3 of a light round, imagine the difference in workloads, most town jobs already get hammered with far more parcels in the van shared jobs, the workloads are going to be so uneven it's unreal!

Re: DM 26 questions
Ours is in the process of being tweaked, as per other reports on here the pods are f****d so the plan is to permanently move some streets on the the 5050s, obviously there won't be any thought whatsoever put into it so the singletons will probably be travelling all over the area in the opposite direction but at least it'll be consistent in that everyone will have it s**t by the time it's done. Mind you this weeks amount of parcels is ridiculous which isn't helping, guardianangel wrote: ↑29 Aug 2026, 08:32As i keep saying uneven workloads some posties are getting hammered while others are not,to all union officials,WHERE ARE YOU !!!! we pay for a service and we are not getting it,you are paid to look out for our best interest and have abandoned us.Perseus wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 12:23Very similar in ours with some of the single persons in the pod. 2/3 of a 750 delivery point duty on heavy and 2/3 of a 750 houses duty on light. Re: DM 26 questions
The DOMS have obviously been briefed to use this 'tweak' buzzword, when most duties need a wrecking ball.
In our office people are staying out hours after their finish time to complete. People who are coming back on their time are bringing back loops and whole Yorks full of Tracked 48s at the expense of 1st class letters
The whole thing is a complete disaster. Another massive failure by the powers that be, looking at a computer screen.

Re: DM 26 questions
It's frustrating to say.....but Ofcom needs to hit Royal Mail with a massive fine if they don't meet delivery targets once this is implemented across all offices.
You get gifted the opportunity to reduce the service and staffing levels so that you can make a decent profit, then you're going to throw it back in Ofcom's faces, employee's faces and customer's faces?

Re: DM 26 questions
The union really aren't interested in sorting out the differences between workloads at a local level, despite them promising a 'fair and manageable workload'. One of the main issues, and we are seeing this play out at ours, is when the mere suggestion of equalising the work appears, some staff will fight tooth and nail to keep their nice little numbers they are on. Hell, they will even try and improve on it at the expense of others.guardianangel wrote: ↑29 Aug 2026, 08:32As i keep saying uneven workloads some posties are getting hammered while others are not,to all union officials,WHERE ARE YOU !!!! we pay for a service and we are not getting it,you are paid to look out for our best interest and have abandoned us.Perseus wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 12:23Very similar in ours with some of the single persons in the pod. 2/3 of a 750 delivery point duty on heavy and 2/3 of a 750 houses duty on light. With no enforced standard of how long a duty should take, we've genuinely got duties that are 2 hours difference between them, that's even before you get into older staff taking longer on the same route as a younger person.

It's one of the main reasons they don't really want any type of revision activity - like we all know there will be a post implementation reviewthefox wrote: ↑29 Aug 2026, 16:21Very much a mirror image of our office.Perseus wrote: ↑29 Aug 2026, 15:18The union really aren't interested in sorting out the differences between workloads at a local level, despite them promising a 'fair and manageable workload'.
