Royal mail prepping standards

Post by Rage24 »

Are they the same as they have always been or have they changed?

Can still do it with sequenced tray into an empty frame?

Prep test remains the same. However its not going to prove much. What the real issue?

Manager threatening me with coaching because I can't prep two duties on first week of new revision.

It used to be a 15 minute prep test. However, it doesn't really prove anything because if it did then they would have made sure that everyone's indoor workload is evenly balanced, and it's not, it's f***ed. Some staff only ever prep one frame and spend 10-15 minutes doing a bit of IPS while others are tasked with trying to prep two. To this day I've never managed to fully prep one frame in 10 minutes.

When was it 15 minutes ? because the only one I’m aware of is the 1 minute test into an empty and single slot frame.

Go for it, request that they show you how to do it whilst you watch and learn

The "performance test" predates the introduction of sequenced mail.
It is pointless.
As well as having a performance standard the office should also have a resourcing standard. A "should take" time.
There may be simple reasons why this can't be achieved - unfamiliarity, poor presentation of mail etc.
Coaching is the first step on the NCI path.
In the last dispute they wanted to revisit the NCI agreement. I think they may come back to this very soon.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Different offices, different methods of calculating prep speeds. But there is no indoor performance standards that I'm aware of and what does it prove anyway? Is the layout of the frame a bit of a mess? Are other's being singled out as well or are they coming in an hour early unpaid to prep two frames? When managers do something like this it can really open a can of worms.

well the prep test isn't designed for double prepping so it won't prove anything, there is a time value for indoor tasks which should be available for you to see. all you can do is your best. if it can't be done it can't be done. is it delaying you getting out?

There’s only one agreed prep test they can use.

Anything else , I would argue is targeted harassment.

we always got told it was 10mins for a full sequenced tub of mail, i know some who can do it in 7 or 8 mins and others can take 20mins!
usually those slower are left alone whilst those efficiant get dragged off to general IPS work
it pays to be slower :arrrghhh

1 min prep test in an empty frame , i think it was 20 or so , let the clown crack on and ask him / her to show you how it should be done , because we all struggle to prep 2 deliverys , these are the clowns that need to go as moral will not change otherwise . :evil/mad
