We know that many of our Royal Mail delivery members have been asking about the USO trials - what’s the latest, what's changing, and what it means for the future of delivery. That’s why we’ve invited Postal Outdoor Assistant Secretary, Tony Bouch back on the show this week to give a full update. He’ll be breaking down the key learnings from the pilot sites so far, what's next, and what it all means for members on the ground.

We’ll also be joined by CWU National Officer Tracey Fussey, who’ll talk about the union’s serious concerns around Capita’s handling of proposed redundancies on the VMO2 contract.

Capita is pushing to cut 127 roles based on flawed performance data, without proper consultation - and is placing undue pressure on vulnerable members to leave. The CWU has written to Capita demanding an immediate halt to these actions, and we’re fighting for fair treatment and a full consultation.

maybe he meant 12,000 steps a loop, then again could be walks in certain parts of london, heard some of them only doing 4 and half hour deliveries, try more like 6 and half delivery span some offices further north u go

I found an old pedometer back when P&L rolled out and found we were hitting 20,000 steps then. At least the letters dropped off over time so I wasn't simultaneously hauling all that weight. Ah, the future - the worst of both worlds!

He was only using hypothetical figures to illustrate the fact that if you currently walk five days a week you may only walk three days a week in the new regime. So if you currently walk 25,000 steps which makes 125,000 steps in a week going forward this could be reduced to only 75,000 steps over three days with one or two days in a shared van or on a 4 day week.

Too much negativity on here regarding these changes, it reminds of the time when we went to the single delivery from 1st and 2nd deliveries. The change needs to come to protect our job, the CWU are doing their best to influence the changes and mitigate the impact on both our duty content and the overall number of jobs remaining. When it comes to your office get involved, we know what works best and can have a positive impact. Burying your head in the sand and refusing to accept the inevitable never results in the best outcome for anyone. By all means challenge wrong thinking but do it from a positive place not an obdurate one.

Everyone knows just how emotive the CWU's profit driven behaviour has become. Are you saying Tony, with all the media training, is tone-deaf? This isn't the time for pie in the sky figures. "Everything has to be right" - the CWU. Blue sky thinking your way through a pre-recorded interview really is obudurate.


Dismissing genuine criticism as negativity is classic CWU behaviour. Is it any wonder that we criticise when your example of the past - changing to a single delivery - is a brilliant example of how the CWU has failed. We were sold single delivery on the basis of job and finish. That agreement was made to stop us fighting the end of second deliveries. Within years of that sellout we were told we had to work to our time!

The CWU is not protecting jobs. It's colluding in a tripartite attack on decent hard working people. The CWU is not a passive victim as you portray. The CWU is the problem.

Workers are reporting that the changes are already planned and ready to go. There has been no worker involvement, let alone CWU involvement. The sand is so deep workers are buried in it, suffocating.

And lets be clear the obuduracy comes from a Union so deep in partnership, so distant from it's members, with an executive so removed from reality that the certification officer should revoke its status as an independent trade union.

No ones burying their head for the past 15 or so years all we hear is "we have to change" even when RM MAKE PROFIT it goes to share holders and not reinvested just look how Simon Thompson and many ceo's have left with millions for literally failing is DK gonna be another,just being "positive"about the trials hasn't got the glow the staff once had before privitisation.
