Originally in park and loop the weights of the bags were meant to go down from 16kg per side to 8kg per side on a sliding scale with your first bags being the heaviest and last ones being the lightest.
Never saw that happen either.
Anyway they changed the ssow on that to be 16kg max on either side of the lwt on any loops.
Also to answer another question about scales , despite asking for them for ages from office rep to area rep and line manager to area manager , not seen one of them either.
I'm wondering how we should weigh the bags in the office as I've never seen any scales?
And also what weight should be on a lwt for health and safety precautions?
The scales in our place don’t look like scales. They have a flat bed with a ramp and it is about 2 metre sq. There’s a digital display on the wall which doesn’t look like it’s part of it.
They are currently not working which is convenient.
So have a look by your entrance or exit door for something they are not quite burying.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’
The max total weight of a HTC is 122kg so if they are going to make the trolley jobs take out more mail bundles, the scales need to be visible and working.

Scales have just been REMOVED from my office
Not heard an explanation for it, can only assume it was to make room for the bodge of a 2.1 revision, I guess the frames squeezed in around the edge left no room near a plug socket.
To quote the COM who was desperate to have this new way of trialled in this office, but conveniently jumped ship before implementation, "your health, safety, and well being is not a concern for me or Royal Mail"
I find it hard to believe that with the make up of the mail today anyone could come close to 16kg unless they had a stupid amount of heavy parcels in their bag.
In the days of sky mags and heavy mail a rough guesstimate of 16kg was around 6 bundles of mail.
On my roughly 30 min loops I mostly have one bundle, two if it's double mail so usually there isn't any mail at all in the bag, I wouldn't put heavy parcels in there, that's what the van is for. I've genuinely not seen anyone with anything that even looks overweight for years and it was common back in the day.
