In the agreement it says data can be used be understand and office and individual performance in a 'fair and consistent' way. This will include data from the PDA.
Leaves it very open for managers to use it if walks/offices are failing.
Why we are seeing it more now.
They dont have to watch them live. They get sent the data of all the PDAs the next day and each minute and location and time spent dormant is presented on screenshot with lines marking out the exact route.

Yeah, the agreement has more holes in it than Swiss cheese.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025, 06:27They get sent the data of all the PDAs the next day and each minute and location and time spent dormant is presented on screenshot with lines marking out the exact route.
It's not supposed to be used for performance monitoring but RM are trying to use it to optimise the outdoor workloads. As if the outdoors spans weren't big enough, they could question why you spent 20 minutes here and 10 minutes there because posties are being tracked. If a postie is failing to clear the 3 rounds of Tracked parcels or 3 days worth of mail, what do you think will happen? Do you not think it is likely that more pressure will be put on these managers who will in turn look at the PDA data and bring the posties to account as to why they are failing?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The union admit it wasn't the best agreement but it got to the point where a deal had.to be struck and the reasons have been explained.
Personally I think the stuff around data and performance was the most dangerous part of it as it will lead to more performance managing and bullying tactics through the PDA data.
However as long as people aren't slipping off and idling for long periods while failing their work it shouldn't lead to conduct.
Few minutes here and there can be easily explained.

The PDA data in terms of speed should massively go in most posties favour. Without it - management just guess that you haven't worked hard enough based on what you bring back and are always wrong. I'd rather they used PDA actuals for speed as they'd then have to leave most of us alone.

Yes exactly.
If people followed all the protocols too and ended up cutting off then the argument is there to add hours back.
Need to use it to our advantage.
How many people knock on neighbours doors or write out 739 cards.

Not to be antagonistic, but how many people are actually using the LWT's as a delivery method? I can count them on one hand in a delivery office of over 100 staff. I know this always falls on deaf ears (like starting on time and taking breaks) but if posties are expected to deliver 2 or 3 days worth of mail, why on earth would they still be trying to lug an overweight back on their bag if it isn't delivering to flats? It is this that will add the hours back.

In my experience if you asked for a LWT trolley (yes despite it being mandatory) you were deemed a pain the ass and purposely trying to slow your delivery down, and life would be made difficult for you.postslippete wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025, 09:36Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025, 20:21Yes exactly.

I regret it now because I've ruptured my ligaments and I'd say with 99% certainty it's from carrying bags.

People just want to crack on a get the work done, I get it but if there was ever a time to do the job properly it's now.
Allot of talk of potential fatigue, we don't do ourselves many favours with that in the way we work.

This new way of working will fatigue us, the current way of working fatigues us but what can we do about it? I don’t think RM care.

With what is coming you simply won’t have a choice other than to use a lwt.
Every loop will be 2 bags worth of stuff.
With longer delivery spans and heavier bags every single day of every month you’d have to ask why wouldn’t you use them ?

Use an LWT. Has to be done. If they want to triple the load, let them realise that tripling the load slows you down.
Of course they will try to add more on because you are using an LWT. So knowing weight limits and sticking to your own personal limit is important.
This pilot will not save them money.

What are the weight limits?does it not get lighter the more bags you have, like it starts at 16kg for first bag 12kg for 2nd etc.

Absolutely need LWT at ours with massive loops. And no, as above, the new way won't save money because RM have already been giving this level of service for years. All it will do is make people more accepting it once a week post.
