Well I for one hope so, we need a "reset" at our place, people sitting on duties they've just been left on, partly the aftermath of a couple of years ago when they forced senior people off their duties by making the duty part time

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
Our last revision came in October, big parcels off in exchange for 3 extra loops, only doable on a quiet day with no d2ds, the only way the USO reform would work, is if they put the walks back in that they took out.

You must have very little indoor work if you can do 5 hour first DP to last DP duty after breaks and travel time come off without overtimeyellowbelly wrote: ↑20 Feb 2025, 11:58I wanna come work in your office, our first DP to last DP is 5 hours for HCT's and vans.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

We have a few staff at our DO who routinely prep three frames in the morning, plus one who does three frames AND helps on the IPS. This particular guy sorts quicker than a bank cashier counting £20 notes. Maybe with the new way of working they will be more stringent/selective with who gets to do the indoor work?

What makes you think they'd stop at indoor work.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑20 Feb 2025, 16:17We have a few staff at our DO who routinely prep three frames in the morning, plus one who does three frames AND helps on the IPS. I would have thought there would have to be a re pick.
At present you can have 4 van share duties covered by 4 people, under the new way of working only 2 people would cover the 4 duties so 2 people would automatically lose their duty. How would you decide which 2 keep their duties and which 2 lose their duties? You would also have new driving duties delivering first class/parcels on the walks not being delivered that day that would have to be filled. There is also talk of new attendance patterns. Even if the walks themselves don’t change so much else will that I can’t see how it wouldn’t constitute major change and lead to a re pick.
I only can't see how this saves money unless the 2 that come off the duty also leave the company

Is that a Tuesday or a Wednesday? I was out for 5 hours this Weds but was done in 3.30 on Tuesday & Monday.yellowbelly wrote: ↑20 Feb 2025, 11:58I wanna come work in your office, our first DP to last DP is 5 hours for HCT's and vans.
As a somewhat newbie, I want to know why they can't spread it out better throughout the week.

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
Maybe your rounds are smaller, driveways shorter ? Or the round starts 5 minutes from the office? Impossible to compare
Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:39A 40-hr employee has eight solid hours of graft to supply each day. At our place, even double mail on a walk, plus all the tracked, specials, boxes, and customer collects, is expected to be fully cleared within an eight-hour shift, though you might be allowed just to do that for your whole day’s work if it is a proper rotter and the managers can clearly see it is. How can the 40-hr posties at your office not be clearing even a single walk? Our gaffer would be all over it like a rash and anyone consistently falling short would be out the door. Beginning to seriously wonder if my office (and the other offices in our region) are in some sort of parallel universe to the rest of Royal Mail!A2B wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:57Well that certainly doesn't happen in my office, at the moment like everyone else in the office they are not completing 1 walk let alone 2Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:50It is the norm for new-contract 40-hr posties. It has been the norm for as long as I have been employed, and I gather it was the norm from the get-go of the new 40-hr contract at our place. And it is the norm not just at my own DO — it happens at the other offices in our region too.Londonsburning wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:07That ain't "the norm" for walks in any DO yet and hasn't ever been, maybe for backshift DPR dutiesSmoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 16:55That magic number — the six-hour del span — has been the norm for 40-hr contract new starters at ours since I started. The theory, or so we are told, is 20% of our working time indoors prepping, 80% outdoors delivering.
We have people doing the best part of two whole walks a day — they go out in the morning as part of a van share, and then on returning to the office in the afternoon to drop their partner back, they then go back out on their own with another walk/lapsing/cut-offs to take them up to their own finish time.

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
You know what, that makes absolute sense to the way rm want to go, let's just think, they want to be a parcel company and love to copy all the other parcel companies who all operate from parcel only depots, they all service a large area from the depot rather than having to spend time sorting and transporting the parcels to multiple smaller do's, they are all able to give accurate delivery time windows due to not having to tit about with mail and dominos leaflets, I think we might be in for a bigger change than we thought.77SAMPOST77 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:44Royal Mail are transferring up to 14 million parcels to Parcelforce starting the end of July this it is on the latest LTB on another thread ,kazardaimenu wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:55Makes no sense to have one guy taking big parcels and one guy taking smaller parcels. Many times customers will have a big box and a small box in one order from Boots or the like. Having them arrive separately is just crazy. There will be disagreements too as to who takes what because bag space and weight won’t be an issue for the 1c driver.
the detail;s are shown below , cannot see them needing DPR drivers then .
We are already doing royal mail parcels now at Parcelforce but have been told there will be a huge increase end of July this year .
(Transfer in financial year 25/26 of up to 14m large parcels (F4 and above) from the RM network to PFWW, this may be via direct from customer or MC/HUB in line with the BRT&G commitment to the development of a single large Parcel Network) .

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
How , would this even work for some posties who's duties are ringfenced for various reasons. ? They can't be moved anywhere so their duty would be done everyday by them ? What a mess coming near you soon...

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
One reason why I'm leaving and waiting for a start date in my new job. I've 11 years seniority so I'm over half way up the ladder in an office of over 100 and in the last 7 years I've never had a problem getting my own duty (as I've always hated cover/reserve) but I feel that the fact 2 will be covering 4 duties then in any future repicks (and there has to be one) then I may have to drop down to a reserve or cover again and I'm not going backwards.Idk wrote: ↑20 Feb 2025, 16:55Zicomurphy wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 20:36[
