Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
I'm more convinced than ever that the claims of 'improving quality of service' are a red herring. Also the tiny number of VR's.
They want to slash the wage bill by removing 1 in 4 delivery jobs by any means. The fact that there are to be no revisions - remember there are offices out there in dire need of them - and the fabled Delivery 2.0 has taken a back seat, in favour of the 3 people do the job of 4. It will be forced to 'work'.
I also think there will be very few exemptions to this new way of working unless it's an extremely remote office full of 6 hour long rural routes.

I hope this happens, taking the large away would make a difference. However, I will believe it when I see it happen.SMS1969 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 19:18The big parcels are going to Parcelforce , Starting end of July apparently , The LTB quote is shown below ,77SAMPOST77 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:59SMS1969 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:52Makes no sense to have one guy taking big parcels and one guy taking smaller parcels. Many times customers will have a big box and a small box in one order from Boots or the like. Having them arrive separately is just crazy. There will be disagreements too as to who takes what because bag space and weight won’t be an issue for the 1c driver.
How will that happen? One driver takes large and small tracked from 2 duties. Two posties take everything from another two duties.
not sure what F4 size is mind you .
Transfer in financial year 25/26 of up to 14m large parcels (F4 and above) from the RM network to PFWW, this may be via direct from customer or MC/HUB in line with the BRT&G commitment to the development of a single large Parcel Network
[/quote]
Is it literally everything that we send out to inward MCs and DOs as large parcels? You're still going to get some come through to the DOs, sometimes the sleeves of small can have a load of large in them.

Is that true about no revisions then, I haven’t heard this? Does that mean no re pick and you stay on your duty and will have to do others near to you?Perseus wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 19:41I'm more convinced than ever that the claims of 'improving quality of service' are a red herring. Martin Walsh has stated that there are no revisions. Offices that can't clear just now will just be expected to muddle through even more.SMS1969 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 20:15Is that true about no revisions then, I haven’t heard this? Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
We've been told no revision till 2026, they also mentioned they might have to move people to different walks
Basically 1 in 4 people are going to loose their duty and at the moment nobody can give an answer as to how this will be decided or what happens to the people moved from their duty

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
Well today I saw all the revised walks for my DO coming in in 4 weeks time.
So I think Mr Walsh might be wrong.

At present you can have 4 van share duties covered by 4 people, under the new way of working only 2 people would cover the 4 duties so 2 people would automatically lose their duty. How would you decide which 2 keep their duties and which 2 lose their duties? You would also have new driving duties delivering first class/parcels on the walks not being delivered that day that would have to be filled. There is also talk of new attendance patterns. Even if the walks themselves don’t change so much else will that I can’t see how it wouldn’t constitute major change and lead to a re pick.

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
Unless you are in an office full of deep rurals, no one will be doing the same tasks/duties 2 days running - the Optimised Delivery Model or whatever it is called doesn't allow for it. This will obviously impact some people more than others.

It's 3 people covering 4 duties. Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
True but you will still have a group of 4 walks which you will cover others may not be so lucky

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
I know. My point is if there isnt a repick who decides which 2 deliver all mail on the 4 walks on alternate days, which 1 delivers only 1st class/tracked etc on the walks not being delivered and which 1 is left without a duty?Perseus wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 20:41It's 3 people covering 4 duties. It will be 3 people to 4 duties, not 2 to 4. That’s where VR might come in or move the least senior to another walk if no re pick- it’s all a guessing game at the moment. A revision and a re pick would be how it’s worked in the past, but remember, they’ll want people to leave and there’s no better way to pi55 off the seniors by not having a re pick.

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
I imagine offices with some sort of union presence would get some limited type of repick, the rest will no doubt just be allocated routes. In reality, no one knows.

Exactly. No two offices ever seem to work the same way, so naturally this imminent but mysteriously underdefined operational change will be implemented completely arbitrarily and totally inconsistently nationally. Will an asteroid strike the Earth? We're just gonna have to wait to find out.
The machine stops.
