People go home early also.
That'll end when RM eventually link SISO data to pay, I suspect that once the deal has gone through and been signed off that RM will make linking SISO data to pay a priority
Bad news everyone this IS coming from April - fact :wave
Why is it bad news?

In no other employment would people be scared into coming in early for free to get more work done. As mentioned, people really need to toughen up a little if they are feeling this. I can ‘sort of’ understand doing it because you feel guilty to your customers, but that ship sailed long ago in this job. It is about making the company money at all cost now. People need to wise up.
Absolute rubbish!!!! So many people in other jobs get in early to start their days work & get ahead.
There have been many headlines in the news about this over many years saying that people work X million amount of hours unpaid through starting early or staying late.

A quick google check just showed me that the average British worker works the equivalent of 18 days unpaid a year by working outside their allotted hours. It seems that rather than as someone said it’s only in RM people start early it is in fact only in RM that such a thing is made of it by other staff members.
Christ we’ve got enough battles in front of us with the business without this constant belief by some that this is the root of all our problems.

Yes why is it bad news? We stay right to the last second every day yet hear of other offices still doing job & knock. Christ even if we had job & knock at our place you wouldn’t get done to make time. There must be some offices with easy walks to be able to make time.

Sounds like we'll run the mech as normal but on day 5 instead of automatically being released, it'll get held until day 6.

As it stands it still leaves 2C manual letters, flats and packets going out to the DOs with the 2C for them being extracted in the DOs
First-class mail and all parcels will be delivered to every
address 6 days per week, Monday through Saturday.

Non-priority items such as 2nd class and downstream access,
unless they pay more, will be delivered to an address every other
day, Monday through Friday. This means every address will get 5
deliveries of non-priority items over 10 days, but they will get a
delivery every day of 1st class and parcels.
Doesn't this statement suggest that the 4 day hold is only going to be a one day hold?
No, a walk done on Friday, won't be done again until Tuesday, so 3 days mail.
Cheers claret, got that now, but from the MC perspective, the way I understand it from the CWU bulletin statement above, the current 5 day hold on DSA or non-priority (whatever that encompasses) is going to be a one (or as you say) - a max three day hold. Could be wrong of course, this is RM we're talking about.

Of course we all know MC's have no storage space!

I'm always surprised when people on here talk about still having job and knock. Job and knock stopped in my office in 2010 when shared vans were introduced, and it's been rigidly enforced ever since. Until about 5 years ago, when we cleared everyday, anybody getting back early had to hang around the office until finishing time. Nowadays, there is plenty of mail sitting in frames to be sent back out on delivery with.

Lol you doing a 180° now because...?
A 180 on what? I’ve never defended people working early for free.

Don't think the DTS will be changing, RM spent a lot of money re-commissioning CSS machines to get it working. Management haven't informed us of any changes to the DTS system

Always the case in RM, when any office or shift is going to be affected by some changes, they're always the last to know. As it currently stands, DTS will be run as normal with the normal 5 day limit. Any 2C released will be sequenced and go out to the DOs whether it's due for delivery that day or not.

Have any of you thought that people come in early for free because the job is unachievable in the duty hours and the person on it doesn't want grief from the bosses for not taking stuff out but also doesn't want to go over?
These people you speak off need to grow a pair of balls.

SP you're correct - according to the OFCOM consultation docs, D+5 remains in place (with the other D+ servies) with the provision text
amended slightly, this is the amended text they're proposing for D+5, so no change really apart from if it's handed over on a Saturday.

Seems a bit mad to me keeping stuff for 4/5 days, when other non-priority is going to be delivered (mostly) every other day.

D+5 Access” means access to the universal service
provider’s postal network at the IMC for the purposes of
a D+5 Access Operator providing retail services that aim
to deliver Letters within five weekdays (or later) after collection from the sender, for
delivery by the universal service provider no later than the fourth weekday after
the Letters were handed over by the D+5 Access Operator at the IMC.
If the Letters were handed over on a Saturday, then handover shall be deemed
to have occurred on the next weekday
