If the bag drops are still viable sell off half the electric vans, buy a fleet of bikes and you would get everything delivered every day.
But... but... online shopping!
It would still make rounds more achievable. My loops are sized as to I can get a decent amount of parcels in the bag. If I had panniers too that would only allow more mid sized packets to be carried. I get it, there are still a lot of new estates where walking would be preferable to biking, especially with terraced or new builds but bringing them back would absolutely reduce the number of vans needed.

They've not yet confirmed if we'll still sort the 1C and 2C together at the inward MC, with the 2C being extracted at the DO, or if we'll process the 2C on a different day. If we're just running 1C only at night, frankly some nights we might as well send it manual as it won't be worth running the machines

If it all comes to the Do. It will be sorted and delivered on the day it arrives, no point walking up the path with a 1c or tracked and leaving a 2c behind
If we're only supposed to be delivering 1c taking out 2c will totally confuse everybody.

I thought one recent suggestion by the CWU was that additional 1c frames were being installed at the trial DO's?
Yeah, just wait until RM ditch 2nd class altogether and everything is "1st class"

No room in my tiny DO for extra frames, space is at a premium.
Sort it at home then
Yeah lol, some people probably would, I have a colleague that was on leave, same week as me and the D2D's didn't get done properly by the one part timer, only 1 row was prepped, anyway, he came in (whilst on leave) on the Saturday to prep them for free ffs, like bainging your head against a brick wall! Mind you, like everyone except for me and one other, starts way before his time to prep first wave etc, does him no good as by the tim I have done mech and loose IPS mail and scanned in packets from 1st wave, well we take out break at same time normally.

Have any of you thought that people come in early for free because the job is unachievable in the duty hours and the person on it doesn't want grief from the bosses for not taking stuff out but also doesn't want to go over?

Why would RM bother to put in extra hours when they get the work done for free? The ones coming in for free are part, if not most of the problem

That'll end when RM eventually link SISO data to pay, I suspect that once the deal has gone through and been signed off that RM will make linking SISO data to pay a priority

People going home early will become increasingly rare. It is, and should be, the first area that RM target to save money.

So what? Just papers over the cracks. By working before your time it makes it look like your workload is achievable and just gives managers chance to increase lapsing or make your duty bigger! Work your hours and do the job properly!

Sounds like we'll run the mech as normal but on day 5 instead of automatically being released, it'll get held until day 6.

As it stands it still leaves 2C manual letters, flats and packets going out to the DOs with the 2C for them being extracted in the DOs
First-class mail and all parcels will be delivered to every
address 6 days per week, Monday through Saturday.

Non-priority items such as 2nd class and downstream access,
unless they pay more, will be delivered to an address every other
day, Monday through Friday. This means every address will get 5
deliveries of non-priority items over 10 days, but they will get a
delivery every day of 1st class and parcels.
Doesn't this statement suggest that the 4 day hold is only going to be a one day hold?

No, a walk done on Friday, won't be done again until Tuesday, so 3 days mail.

They should grow a set of balls then, all they are doing is covering up the issues and causing problems from bosses for other people who go on to cover and suddenly they get hit with ''Joe Bloggs manages to clear it fine'' because Joe Bloggs comes in an hour and a half early off his own back
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

In no other employment would people be scared into coming in early for free to get more work done. As mentioned, people really need to toughen up a little if they are feeling this. I can ‘sort of’ understand doing it because you feel guilty to your customers, but that ship sailed long ago in this job. It is about making the company money at all cost now. People need to wise up.
