Why should you decide to take a days holiday off your annual leave when it's not when you want it. So there is that fourth option that RM managers don't want you to take that someone mentioned

Going into work and being paid not actually delivering anything.

2. What happens if an employer closes the workplace?
If an employer decides to close the workplace due to severe weather, the situation regarding pay is different. Unless the employer has a specific contractual provision providing a right to lay off, the employer would generally need to pay employees who are willing and prepared to work in full, despite the closure of the workplace.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Although we were sent home for the day when the red warning was in force, we did go on delivery the next day when it was still windy. Stuff that had been partially damaged the day before was at risk of falling. It was probably as dangerous the day after as it would have been during the red warning.

Take care.

Tremendous fallout from yesterday's fiasco. Not that the company cares because it was supremely obvious this was yet more scrimping to make it to the financial new year.

Just imagine the transformative effects that would arise from treating your staff with some decency and dignity. They company has sown nothing and acts stupefied when they reap nothing.
The machine stops.

Already had a days annual leave deducted. No option to make up the time, not that I would have anyway.Be straight into to see manager and rep on Monday morning. National union need to get straight onto this.Breaking both their own policy and labour laws.

We were told on Thursday by the manager not to go in. But Royal Mail didn’t officially declare any office in the red warning to be closed. Usual underhand way of operating.

Why aren’t the CWU doing more about this?

If this affected delivery offices in London it would be resolved by now, Scotland gets ignored as usual.
