Its not voluntary if the manager requests you to check it.

Good luck arguing your way out of that one.

I dont follow your argument AD. If it IS (as you've suggested) Voluntary then you're not under any pressure anyway? :hmmmm

The ''Reasonable Request'' card is played far too much by Incompetent Managers. :no no He tried that one and was told (as Barnacle suggested) that the OPG didn't consider it as such. He was then told he'd have to provide a Written Statement explaining why FFS! At this point it was flagged up through the CWU ranks. It's NOT an Urban Myth mate it happened. So why do you really think these Lazy Managers are putting in so much effort to get a Postie to check a Bloody App? :hmmmm

Since that incident the manager hasn't spoken to the OPG about that App again! He is still chasing others and even made it a criteria for Staff to be included in the Advent Calendar of Shite, which is a shame (if discriminatory) because the OPG in question was REALLY keen to win that Royal Mail Water Bottle! :cuppa
I am the first to pull a manager up if I think she/he is being petty or making a fuss out of nothing and I personally think its a bit petty not to take 2 seconds to click a few buttons.

So im not going to be a hypocrite and pretend that this is something to make a big fuss about.

I'd rather choose my battles more carefully.

If this is the new normal and driving OPGs are being harassed about this, then why do we still have vans with no trimbles? Also are collections duty holders being grilled about trimble data and my performance nonsense?

A Written Statement?! How is a manager telling you to open an app on a company device an unreasonable request? From conversations with longstanding colleagues, it is attitudes and behaviours like these (displayed by a small but vocal minority) that have “ruined the company” and the “good old days” for all Old Guard employees.

Yeah, just agree to everything regardless of agreements signed by the CWU & RM and see where that gets you.

Viewing the My Performance app is voluntary. That’s in the agreement. They also agreed to ask for our feedback on the app. If you can find the tab that allows us to provide logged feedback can you also seek out the Holy Grail and Atlantis.

No, I don’t. I am saying that in my chats with decent, hardworking Old Guard posties, they blame attitudes and behaviours like this for ruining the job for them (the decent, hardworking Old Guard posties) — not me saying it.

Was it supposed to be a mechanism for us to give feedback on the app itself or feedback on the personal performance data presented within the app? I know not.

Just re-read your original post, now I'm awake I realised what you'd written. My Mistake :d'oh!

I get your point on picking your battles but I don't like being lied to, or manipulated. It is NOT compulsory to access this App so I don't do it. It's just the Managers chasing some more Unearned Bonus (from my POV). :cuppa

You arent wrong but I think theres less to gain from pissing off your manager over nothing really than there is to just say 'yeah ok' and take the 2 secs to click it

Having said that, I dont have your manager :chuckle

Your idea of nothing really is different to mine. I don’t want the time and duration of my every sneeze and fart logged on a database. Managers have been using the nonsense data collected to harass staff. It is not meant to be used in that way but there is a large body of managers who like nothing better than to poke at people.

They haven’t provided any option to give feedback on the app but you can guarantee they are counting all your clicks to use as tacit agreement for its continued use, ‘Look, see! They’re clicking on the app all the time, they must want it!’ 🙄🙄

Whether you click on the app or not all of that data is being logged and analysed. The only difference is you don’t see it. They still will.

A Written Statement?! How is a manager telling you to open an app on a company device an unreasonable request? From conversations with longstanding colleagues, it is attitudes and behaviours like these (displayed by a small but vocal minority) that have “ruined the company” and the “good old days” for all Old Guard employees.
One thing that cannot be denied about this company is : EVERY Duty, Delivery Office, Postie and Manager is DIFFERENT. No two are the same and they cover the whole spectrum from Very Good to Bloody Awful! :hmmmm

Smooth I have no idea about your world and you have none about mine. I'm not picking a fight, or trying to shout you down, because I come onto this forum for a good discussion (difficult to get sometimes I know).

I personally thought that a ''Reasonable Request'' from my DOM wasn't one. It was motivated by personal greed, for personal gain, and he lied about it! He was the one that could have let it go but decided to butt heads and eventually came off the worse.

In the same vein I know nothing of the Attitudes, or Experiences, of your ''Old Guard'' Colleagues. I would refute the claim that ''a small vocal minority have ruined the company and the good old days for all Old Guard Employees''. I think you'll find it boils down to Capitalist Greed. The Privatisation of Royal Mail in 2013 and the attack on wages and T&Cs by successive CEOs.

Unless of course that ''small vocal minority'' they were referring to was Adam Crozier, Moya Greene, Rico Back and Simon Thompson. :cuppa
