When is payday for most of the public? End of the month pay means packets pick up at the turn of the month. Don't make me whip out a spreadsheet to prove it.

No way could you get nearly 200 tracked done in a duty span. Didn't the person doing letters take the tracked for those bags?scotchy1962 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2024, 19:22In my office, 198 tracked on a paired duty with only 1 driver...... me. My partner done letters and i drove about like a idiot trying to get the tracked done in the duty time...... i failed.

We were told that there should not be two people in a van driving round delivering the Tracked items but I ignore it as it is not workable. By the time you have dropped the non-driver off with the loops, you then drive off and can only deliver a couple of dozen parcels/specials/collections etc before having to come back again to pick the non-driver up and drop them off to the next destination. It is just time wasted for both posties.
It is better if you are both in the same area delivering either the parcels or mail together.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

This is what I do and when it comes to delivering the parcels I’ll take a bag or lwt and deliver a dozen or so and tell the driver to do x street and meet me at another street.postslippete wrote: ↑18 Nov 2024, 21:42scotchy1962 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2024, 19:22

Actually works really well.
Still can only do one delivery a day and the tracked though.

Re: Ban on all extended delivery.
Anecdotally, yes it is possible in 4½ hours. Run-up to Halloween last year packets exploded. Driver had anything [Tracked] that didn't fit the letterbox and I took the few [Tracked] that did fit the letterbox along with all the letters for one duty in a trolley. I'm not saying it was easy.
What helped is being able to make decisions quickly about how to tackle the impossible and geting management to acquiesce promptly. It can't be done if you sandbag it or get Analysis Paralysis.

Re: Ban on all extended delivery.
The original example given was 1 person doing the 200 odd tracked for both sides of a duty. It's not sandbagging to say it can't be done in a 4.5 hour period unless you deliver to a utopia where you can make a drop on average every 80 seconds with no 739 cards needed.Mr Rush wrote: ↑19 Nov 2024, 17:20Anecdotally, yes it is possible in 4½ hours. Unless 20 houses have 10 packets each.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Or one business or block of flats with a concierge as 100 parcels! I reckon 150/160 is the maximum before you loose the will to live, or at least deliver!

Of course he did, unfortunately i would say that was maybe a quarter of them, the oversize parcels have really kicked off.Perseus wrote: ↑18 Nov 2024, 20:14No way could you get nearly 200 tracked done in a duty span. Every year in our office they plan on putting in parcel drivers for delivering parcels and taking the oversized off duties and every time they purposely delay it and leave it until the sh*t has already hit the fan
