You want to see the real problem at royal mail. It’s this.Barnacle wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 18:58You must be popular.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 18:26I am a postie — as you begrudgingly conceded in a separate thread.Barnacle wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 17:52I know for definite you’re not a postie now because we band together packets/parcels for the same address as a matter of course. It’s no inefficiency on my part to then put that bundle on the DPR York and the DPR makes one trip to the recipient’s door. The End.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 17:06It is against the rules, not to mention an inefficient use of your time, to band together multiple small packets so that you can try to lose them to the DPR driver. Do you also put the mail within the elastic band for him/her to deliver too?Barnacle wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 11:19I wouldn’t suggest matching post, but there’s no reason for several parcels for one house to be delivered separately because the recipient has to answer the door every time there is a parcel. It’s not an inconvenience to the DPR to have several parcels for the same address because the PDA tells them they do.TopperGas wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 11:05In my own experience we don't visit that many addresses twice a day, it's far more inefficient trying to match post and packets with oversized parcels.Barnacle wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 11:00Well they stopped us matching up all parcels for an address. It’s a huge inefficiency to visit the same property several times a day.A2B wrote: ↑06 Oct 2024, 10:02What should happen and would be unpopular and unfair to parcel drivers is that they start later than the rest of staff and then take all parcels and mail for the delivery points they are visiting instead of two different posties visiting at different hours of the day or on occasions at the same time![]()
Wouldn't be popular but would be more efficient
When I am on a DPR duty I make a point of returning out-of-scope small packets in any all instances where other posties haven’t had the decency to check if I have scope/space.
Not the posters fault , he’s doing the job to spec but it’s utterly stupid that I can have 3 “small” parcels and there be 2”larger” ones and yet we both go to that house that day. It’s a complete farce and totally inefficient.
