Scanning passports in to core route?

Post by postmanzach »

Ours get scanned ready for delivery in the special locker, so Is it really necessary for them to need a second scan to core route?

Probably so they know who took them out so they know who to talk to if anything goes wrong. Think RM consider it to be a really big contract

Yes I know it’s a big contract but seeing as they are assigned to us and scanned in by the phg with our specials which we don’t scan to our core route wondering why I been told I need to scan them in. I do it no problem but doesn’t seem necessary.. but then this is Royal Mail…

They are Tracked items so yes, you do have to scan them to your core route along with everything else that is tracked.

Say you scanned all
Your tracked and send to cloud then get given a missorted tracked. You go on indoor and click ready for delivery so that it is scanned in, so if it’s scanned in ready for delivery by the ph g it doesn’t necessarily need another scan? Just helpful to see on pda.

If you don’t scan a Tracked to core route, the customer doesn’t receive the email/message letting them know that their tat is out for delivery. That’s the crime that occurs if you don’t scan.

Another thing is that area managers seem to have some sort of league table for items scanned correctly. They probably get a bonus related to it. So that’s why they want you to scan everything religiously.

Do they scan them? Ours don't I'm fairly sure.

If the locker scans them you don’t have to. Our managers don’t even seem that fussed about scanning regular tracked in the morning. As long as we always get the doorstep scan, that is what they seem to be focussed on. I scan everything with a barcode in, except for any items in the locker.

The locker scan is a scan to show that the item has been received by the delivery office. Your scan to core route is to show that the item is out for delivery.

So yes, you do scan ANY tracked items to core route.

Scan everything even Specials it will help you see what you got in your HCT or van. Our locker doesn't do any scan to passports never been told to.

I don’t understand this because managers are bollocked if the scanning is not done and they keep figures on the number unscanned and are incentivised to drive that number down.

When in the locker I have had to scan passports into specific routes along with the specials, though I'm very aware that all DOs are run slightly differently!
