To post from past knowledge (something you don't have) the situation norris9 describes us the way RM have always done business. When I joined most people had 30 hour contracts for what was then a 40 hour job.

Well done for trawling through my old posts for reason for leaving due to the "toxic" atmosphere. None of your business but I loved the job itself and still have friends in business, so I still have an interest. You are a bit wrong as I actually left 18 months ago, not two years.

Not sure how you work out that I spend "hours" on this site.

I certainly do not and have not been a "fount of knowledge" on any matter on here. You meanwhile joined 7 months ago and now dictate who does what, when your experience is next to nothing.

It does say that at the bottom of the page, well done because as a postie it is important that you can read. But I will wait until a have a message from an admin (TBT or POSTMAN) to tell me that I am or am not allowed to post in certain forums. Maybe if they were that bothered about it, they would restrict it for me. For the record, I changed my status to "ex" - so how many posters on the whole forum are "ex" but haven't changed their status is anyone's guess.

I started just over 6 months ago but I only do parcels. 35 hour contract, we do 7 days in a row Sat - Fri then get Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues off. Go back to work Weds till following Tues then are off Weds, Thurs & Fri and then the cycle repeats itself.

First off, I’m truly very sorry to hear of your neurological condition, and I genuinely mean that.

If it is constructive input, surely it is welcomed and encouraged, no? I have attempted to engage constructively, providing my new hours to CarryingMgt, yet he was just seeking to score a pointless point, That and similar responses from him and others in virtually every other thread is what led to my suggestion re Ex Royal Mail being unable to contribute in Blue Shirts. Of course I am just another nameless poster, not anything to do with the running of this site, so it’s not for me to decide anyway, yes, it would be unfair on genuine people like yourself, however, there is an army of seemingly disgruntled Ex Royal Mail members whose contributions solely serve to disparage and demean new starters and/or those still in the job. They chip in at every opportunity to make personal jibes or to make condescending or demeaning remarks - and that is putting it neutrally. A lot of them sorely regret cutting off their noses to spite their faces, finding they miss the job, warts and all, like mad, but yet their pride doesn’t allow them to come back. But those few silly ones give all a bad name. Sorry if you feel/felt I was tarring you with the same brush - def not.

I do 29 hours. When we are quiet this suits Royal mail. When we are busy Royal mail expect me to be desperate enough to work how many hours extra they want me to and sometimes try and force me into it. I laugh and go home pick up my kids and forget about it.

For the record, I have no problem with ex-posties posting here. I have an issue with ex-posties being arseholes to current employees, especially when they demean new starters. There have been a handful of cases here, and I treat them with the contempt they deserve, as I detest bullies. I wish you well.

turned my whole thread into some childish argument that's 2 pages long now..... they aren't stopping. They really hate each other.... can they open their own thread to argue in.
