Flat rate job and knock sounds very appealing. But commit to deliver would be abused by managers who would quickly increase the size of the duties. Also true that the slow posties who go over by hours are being rewarded with more £ than more efficient ones.

Yeah, it would have to be a flat rate... you essentially get paid what we get paid now, but you will be finishing anywhere between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Job and finish / 'commit to deliver'.

But you have to trust that Royal Mail set it up so that the duties are the correct size with an average 2pm finish time. If you end up regularly finishing past 2.30pm with this setup - then you are clearly slow - possibly out of choice.

No overtime.
No lapsing.
No conversations (harassment) from managers about what to take.
No conversations (harassment) from managers about what you've brought back....

Royal Mail could get rid of a lot of managers as they'd be nothing for them to do as they'd be nobody for them to harass.

The negative / toxic culture would disappear.

I would vote for this....because it gets rid of the harassment from managers and loads of these bullies would be let go. You know what your task is everyday. Yeah you'd be finishing 'later' some days, but you can go home 'early' others.

Would be a good way to streamline management too. Many of them would be able to work from home and half could be made redundant

I recall during the strikes and commit to deliver was being talked about, I didnt hear a positive word about it. The prevailing view was that it would be truly awful and we'd be delivering until very late as RM would absolutely screw the workforce ,and we all know they would....

Since this agreement was voted in ( I left Union before vote due to the phleb holding up yes vote at parliamentary committee) I thought my last few years in RM will be 9-5. Anything less than those times , I will see as a win. I have fought every fight with the CWU & lost something everytime. I take what RM throws at me now, I don’t argue back, I just accept it and do even less work. I act stupid to new ways of working and the screws now just roll their eyes and ask others to do what I don’t understand. That is the stark reality at RM! Be s**t at your job and they leave you alone. Looking forward to being totally inept when it comes to later in the year and it’s dark at 3.30pm, phoning the com to see what I’m meant to do as I can’t see the driveways

Start time are changing month by month already, not long ago our DO was starting at 6:30, after peak it moved to 7:00 now it's 7:15 and it'll probably be around 8 come June before moving to around 7:30 at peak.

It’s difficult to know whether SP believes half the stuff or whether it’s undetectable and excellent trolling.

The “Higher ups” , The impossibility of RM only being able to move times by half an hour anywhere due to the impending collapse of the inward MC, The predictions of doom, The “well all that will fail because they’ll have to move the bodies on to something else”.

And my personal favourite: “no point in voting if you work in a mail centre because delivery control it all anyway” as if every delivery postie in Britain is on some collaborative and nefarious WhatsApp group.
